If you haven’t been here yet, it is a put on your bucket list of restaurants! The puppets are amazing, interesting, fun, and for some a little scary. I love all the old time tables and chairs. We only ordered a couple of tacos each. They were filled with a generous portion of taco meat, lettuce, marble cheese, and tomatoes. We both were stuffed by the time we finished. The people working were both friendly and helpful. Our food was served hot and in no time at all.

One of the go-to legendary institutions for Mexican in CF/Waterloo. Ambiance is beautiful combination of traditional Mexican puppets, art, & retro/ vintage furniture design. Food is well executed, tons of fun hot sauce to explore to make it a fun experience, and great beer selection. Don’t sleep on the French Silk Ice Cream to finish.

I never give 5 stars to all areas. But Rudy’s Taco’s, in Waterloo, Iowa… ON POINT! Their service is amazing! It did not matter if it was the girl behind the counter, or the 2 ladies serving. They always have a genuine smile, everytime you asked for something, they were quick, polite and, most importantly, very VERY patient.. They handled everything like they were there to make sure you have the best experience ever. But… they do deserve a 100% raise! (Though I suggest upping the price a little to afford that raise… because, the price was lower than we had expected.) And the food…. CRAZY HUGE PORTIONS! The flavor is always as good as expected! Im not sure how they do it but the flavor their food has just pops with perfection!

The best food I’ve had in a long time! Taco salad “bowl” shell was super fresh, perfectly hot and customizable to each customer. The ice cream had such vibrant flavor profiles and high quality cream!

Rudy’s is one of my favorite Tex-Mex restaurants in Waterloo. I love the fresh, locally sourced food. Most of the plates are not spicy. They have several taco sauces that will spice up the food. Hanging from the ceiling are puppets. I would love to know the story behind each one.
