Arrived at 10am on a Tuesday morning for breakfast. 3 other booths occupied. Sat myself and waited.
Super nice server eventually came and dropped off a water and menu. I ordered a combo with sausage, eggs, hashbrowns and toast. Ordered my hashbrowns extra crispy with some cheese melted on them.
Waited another 35 minutes for food to come out, and they forgot my hashbrown request. By that time I didn’t have time for a redo. Since they forgot to make the hashbrown crispy and add cheese, I needed catsup for my babied tastebuds.
Everything tasted fine. Eggs were cooked as ordered, generous portions, nice and hot.
Am I picky or fast paced to think that was too long for a simple breakfast to be prepared? Everyone else already had their food in the restaurant, and no to go orders came through in the hour+ I was there.
Bill was $9- so awesome price. Maybe will try again on a lazy morning.

It was my grandpas favorite breakfast spot so naturally I had to stop while in town and it did not disappoint. The rhubarb pie is amazing and not to take away from the delightful home style plate. I would give 10 stars if I could.

Small local hometown restaurant. Customer service was the best part, super friendly staff. Enjoyed breakfast, an omelette and toast. Simple but good! It did take a while for food to come out and wasn’t that busy, luckily we were in no hurry & the waitress made sure our coffee cups were always full.

Great good at a great price. Hash browns were cooked to perfection crispy outside and tender inside. Biscuits were made fresh and the sausage gravy was as near as my grandmas I’ve ever had at a restaurant!! Over easy eggs were cooked correctly. Coffee was very good. Highly recommend Rudy’s anytime you are in Winterset.

I hate going to a restaurant and feeling like an annoyance. The food was good and the blond lady who greeted us was very friendly and smiling. The brunette was not. She made me feel like I was seriously bothering her by being here. We ordered off the menu and we’re friendly to her. She never smiles and spoke very curtly. Even though the cook was very good I will not come back here. I don’t like being treated like an irritation. Not a pleasant breakfast experience.

We went there for lunch today. Place seemed busy, but we assumed it wouldn’t be that bad. Took at least 20 mins to get our drinks, and when we ordered the waitress assured us that it wouldn’t take long for our food. However, we waited 30 more minutes, and no food. We were going to be late to go back to work, so we had to leave. Very sad because we wanted to try it.

This little cafe is an icon in this town. We have been visiting and eating there for over 30 years. The atmosphere is cozy and friendly. The food is what you expect from a small cafe and the prices are very reasonable. Check out their Friday night specials and the pie is yummy.
