I had very, very high hopes for Rudy’s. While it’s not bad, it is no where near the hype. Not even top 3 ramen in Wicker. I had the Tonkatsu and pork bun. Gf had the Tsukemen.

The pork in the bun was very dry. It had pretty average tasting Japanese barbecue sauce, and the bun was fine. The cabbage seemed like it was missing something. Overall the bun was not worth ordering.

The Tonkatsu had very fresh ingredients and tasted very clean. But, the richness of the broth was not there at all. The serving size was on the smaller side and noodles lacked something as well. The egg was perfectly cooked and delicious! But the accoutrements of black mushrooms and bamboo shoots quantity was tiny, very disappointing. The pork itself was tasty, had a good salty charred flavor but I felt the fat was slightly under rendered giving it a slightly crunchy texture. Meat quantity was good, but again, not 5 stars.

My gf Tsukemen had a solid flavor and the thicker noodles were much tastier than the normal thinner ramen noodles. The broth was pleasantly intense with complex flavors.

Finallly the atmosphere was annoying. They had a single little JBL speaker blasting at max volume so it was half static. The lighting is way way too intense and it’s not very intimate. I know this is really nitpicking but our two top table was definitely a four top turn sideways and so it felt like we were sitting 6 ft apart. Oh well. Service was fine not good or bad.

Really sad because I literally live a block and half away… This would be good suburbs ramen, but compared to other city ramen places it’s kinda mediocre.

Impressive broth with chewy ramen noodles make a very good dish. The server missed an item upon ordering and never followed up. A table for two with only one appetizer and one entree would be a giveaway that something is missing, but he never noticed. Despite enjoying what were on the table, the meal ended early.

Loved the ramen here – but I think I’d prefer the spicy tonkotsu over the spicy miso.

The broth is excellent, the noodles are great. I preferred the thin noodles over the thick noodles, but I realize I could have subbed that myself.

I wish there was more numbing spice actually in the spicy miso. I’ll have to come back and try the other bowls!

If you’re hunting for the best bowl of noodles in the Chicago, you need to try Rudy’s Ramen. This place absolutely nails the essentials. First off, that broth is the real deal: thick, rich, and so flavorful it’s perfect for a cole winter day—you’ll want to drink every last drop. They also perfectly execute the ramen egg, which has a molten, jammy yolk that just pops in your mouth. And the noodles themselves? Perfectly springy every time, never soggy. Be careful of the spicy Tantanmen though! I asked them to it half spice and I don’t think they did. It was so hot!

My partner stumbled upon this spot for lunch a couple weeks back and hasn’t stopped raving about the ramen since… I completely understand why now! The spicy miso ramen strikes the perfect balance between rich, deep flavor and just the right amount of heat. The Brussels sprouts and karaage chicken were the perfect accompaniments. Highly recommend trying the chicken. The owner shared that it’s marinated for 24 hours and breaded right before frying. Insane in the best way!

Everyone here is incredibly friendly, and you can genuinely tell that customer experience is held in the highest regard. We will absolutely be back!

Okay broth and noodles (I prefer thick over thin). The meat is chewy. Really didn’t like the bao buns. Not even in the top 10 of Chicago ramen spots imo.

I accept if I’m the one that messed up, entering an hour before they closed, but the last 40 minutes was loud with staff cleaning and dragging chairs on the floor. Music was blaring from just a few speakers (unpleasant to say the least). Lights were way too bright which added to the unpleasant atmosphere.

Rudy’s made a couple lists so I thought I’d check it out especially on a cold day.

Ambiance is pretty. Great lighting and spacious. The vibe itself felt oddly off. The restaurant seemed to fit that of a takeout place than a sit down spot.

Service was a bit interesting. Got seated at the bar right away but it took almost five minutes to get someone over when the place was only about half capacity. I think I came at the wrong time because it was an hour before closing and they seemed to have an influx of Uber Eats and Doordash orders. After getting my food, I didn’t get asked how it was until after I finished.

Overall the food was good, but nothing mind blowing. The brussel sprouts was good. Got the ramen less than 2 minutes after I ordered and damn near burned my tongue off. I wouldn’t have minded waiting ten minutes to avoid that experience. The spicy tonkotsu was hardly spicy. The noodles, broth and egg was fire. The pork belly was good but nothing special. The ramen bowl was about $20 which places it among the most premium prices you’d find in Chicago. Definitely NOT worth that much for sure, but easily worth trying once. It’s also a bit disconcerting sitting in front of a bunch Subway looking steel bins with ramen ingredients where they mass produce bowls like an assembly line.

Ordered take out. The place charges $20 for a ramen and they have the audacity to provide it without a broth.
Tried contacting them right away but no one answered so either they are not interested in serving or just don’t care.
Not an experience that I would expect from Chicago restaurant
There are many better Ramen places around , definitely not ordering from here again!

This was an insane amazing crazy good ramen place. Honestly I thought it would be overhyped from the number of reviews Ive heard online but this did not disappoint.

My friend and I had the Spicy Miso and Spicy Tonkotsu ramen bowl. The broth was so rich, I felt like the wealthiest person alive. The karaage chicken was super super good for starters. Would highly recommend this restaurant to ramen lovers (and others).
