Proper authentic Neapolitan pizza in the heart of Bristol!

Went with a mate recently and honestly, Rudy’s lives up to the hype. We got the Portobello on a white base (swapped garlic oil for truffle oil which was an absolute game-changer) and tried the triple pepperoni with halal pepperoni – really appreciated they’ve got halal options available, makes all the difference.

That crust though… perfectly charred, puffy edges, just the right amount of chew. You can tell they know what they’re doing with that double fermented dough. The garlic aioli and chilli honey dips were elite – that sweet-spicy combo with the crispy crust is unmatched.

Fair pricing too – £34.80 for two pizzas, dips, and a drink is spot on for the quality you’re getting.

Location on Baldwin Street is super convenient, right in the centre.

If you’re after proper Neapolitan pizza in Bristol, this is the spot. Already planning my next visit!

Had a really great Saturday night hen party celebration at Rudy’s bristol recently. We were a party of 12 & running a little bit late, but the servers were super accommodating & patient with us.

There were good vegan options & opportunities to swap the dairy cheese for vegan cheese on the pizza’s. My only feedback would be to offer a vegan salad that didn’t include the honey dressing or dairy cheese.. on the plus side, the olives were 11/10!

Thanks folks

Nice atmosphere with candles and nice decorations
Staff service is ok, it just takes some time to look for them to order.
We ordered two pizzas and two drinks, the drinks came in 10 mins and the pizzas 30mins.
The lemonade is not too sour, the taste is just right.
For the blood orange cocktail I expected to be more fruity but it’s still okay.
The two pizzas are both very flavourful and fresh. The dough tastes good but can be quite dry.
The tiramisu is creamy. I was expecting more chocolate flavour but it’s still good.

Personally don’t not prefer the dry dough that much.

The welcome was not the best. There was no greeting and no response to my “thank you” when I received the menus. The person at the entrance was really cold and rude.

The music volume and atmosphere were pleasant.
The pizza menu is well done, with a reasonable number of options.

The girl who served us later was very kind and came to ask if we wanted anything else.

I ordered a Peroni “rossa.”
As an Italian, I expected a red beer, but it turned out to be just a regular Peroni with a red label.

The pizzas are good but quite average overall. The eggplant was very rubbery and tasteless. The Melanzana a funghetto pizza was quite average, while I enjoyed the Salsiccia pizza much more. In some parts, the pizza was dry and lacked toppings.

Overall, I am satisfied, but there are a few things that could be improved.

First time coming here and it was good. I got the pepperoni pizza and garlic aoili (delicious) but substituted the cheese for vegan cheese and meat for halal pepperoni. Surprisingly the cheese was alright and even melted nicely. Also had the Bramble Berry spritz which was a good mix of sweet and sour. Dessert was strawberry and vanilla gelato (don’t know if the tiramisu had alcohol) and it was nice. The atmosphere was pretty dark, dimly lit which is perfect if you hate harsh overhead lighting. Only issue was that the service was pretty slow.

Wow!!! what a lovely experience me and my partner had
We were craving authentic Italian pizza and that is exactly what we got.
The dough is absolutely incredibly its got that slightly chewy texture and soft crusts which pair well to dip in any of their sauces!! the hot honey is a personal fave!
The pizzas were packed with flavour i had the Salsiccia – the fennel sausage and caramelised onion was insane, the sharer was also great to nibble on whilst waiting having a few cocktails to start
Defo try the cocktail specials, if your a fan of an espresso martini you have to try the tiramisu drink!
overall service was fast and super friendly the Manager Ellie is an absolute joy! she looked after us all night and was so so good at checking in on us and making sure we were having the best time!
deffo recommend to any fellow foody!

My first visit I went for a salty savoury option: tarantina with the anchovies, but since I have a sweet tooth, this time I ordered the Triple Pepperoni with chilli honey and it was incredible. The chilly-sweet honey paired perfectly with the induja dip; the dip’s savoury, creamyness balanced the honey beautifully. I also had the ‘berry’ cocktail; so refreshing and was the perfect match for the meal and sunny weather. No regrets at all, this will definitely be my go-to order from now on, and I can’t wait to explore the rest of the menu…..Honourable mention: their music playlist had me tapping and nodding is was a sense of nostalgia and ease, I felt like I was in another country. There’s room for improvement in the service though as I had to chase the waiter down for my cocktail this visit and my first visit I was made to feel like I had to beg for the candle on my table to be lit as it adds to the experience. There was a mixup with my receipt, I truly appreciate how proactive they were to resolve this issue as well. All in all the atmosphere is chill….I highly recommend.

One of very few restaurant chains that feel independent… great quality, authentic Neapolitan pizza doughs and exciting toppings. Dips were fantastic and portion sizes were massive (didn’t fit the plates!). Service could have been more on the ball though and the interior design came across as unfinished.

I was there for a quick bite but I was hooked!
This is an actual Italian place, where the guys making the pizza are Italians!
The pizza itself is very good, big but not exaggerated just a bit sweet to my taste.
I’m definitely coming back.

Right, so Rudy’s Pizza in Bristol. Another bloody pizza joint. Or a burger place. Those are the only two things that seem to open these days. You can’t move in a British city without tripping over an “artisan” sourdough base or a “dirty” triple-stacked beef thing. And I’m not going to stand here and make some sweeping generalisation about Gen Z’s lack of culinary imagination (although God knows it’s tempting). Maybe this is just what works economically. Maybe, thanks to Gregg Wallace and John Torode drumming the difference between seasoning and “flavour profile” into our skulls for two decades, we’re all now such expert home chefs that when we do go out, we just want something simple done properly. Or maybe it’s the influencers – all bronzed teeth, trout lips and a vocabulary that extends only to “pizza” and “burger”. Who knows. But the fact is, I don’t actually object to either, and nor, clearly, does anyone else. Hence: Rudy’s.

This particular Rudy’s has just opened in Bristol. Not that you’d notice. It’s on one of those central roads that Bristol City Council has decided to make un-driveable, on the grounds that it might encourage you to cycle, bus, taxi, or pogo stick instead. Cars? Forget it. You need a PhD in one-way systems to even get close. I gave up, dumped the car somewhere legal-ish, and walked the last bit, muttering “when will it end?” to no one in particular like an old man who’s been short-changed on his Werther’s Originals.

Anyway. Monday lunchtime. Impromptu birthday lunch for a friend. I gave him the choice. “What would you like?” And of course it was always going to be pizza or burger. Pizza won.

Inside, Rudy’s ticks all the modern boxes. The chairs and tables don’t match, which means they’ve “got character” rather than being “knackered”. The walls are left half-finished, like a building site, with plasterboard and pipes sticking out, but it’s intentional, which makes it cool. And I wasn’t handed a hard hat with my menu, which felt like a missed opportunity for full immersion.

But here’s the thing: none of that matters. Because in this age of identikit pizza and burger joints, you’ve got to be one of two things: very different, or very good. Rudy’s has gone with “very good.” The pizza is Napoli-style – thin, light, chewy where it should be, charred where it needs to be. The tomato base is tangy, the mozzarella actually tastes of something, and the toppings are properly balanced rather than “chef had a panic attack in the walk-in fridge and put everything on at once.” I’m not going to bore you with the “notes of basil” or “earthy undertones of olive oil” – I’m not writing tasting notes for Majestic Wine. Just know this: they know what they’re doing.

And that’s enough, really. Because when there are this many pizza places in one city, you don’t have to reinvent the wheel. You just have to make sure your wheel is round, crisp on the outside, and dripping with molten mozzarella. And Rudy’s? They’ve nailed it.
