We loved it so much we are here twice in one week!! We’re from Pennsylvania and had a terrific vacation in San Antonio. We HAD to get some GOOD barbeque. Rudy’s is GREAT!! We were able to sample a few items and enjoyed our first dinner so much that we went back a second time before heading home. Everything was delicious – brisket, sausage, ribs, and chopped. Everything we tried was amazing. Next time we’re in Texas, we’ll be back!

We lined our lunch at Rudy’s. The atmosphere is kind of road side bbq stand, I think. Dining room is nothing special but that was the kind of vibe we were looking for.

Ordering was a bit confusing, the first station was just for sides, the next station was the cashier who took our meat order which was cut by guys behind her at a big counter. Drinks were all in the dining room.

My wife got a pulled pork sandwich. She is pretty picky about fatty pulled pork, and this passed her inspection. I had half a pound of ribs (3), half a sausage, creamed corn and Mac and cheese. The sausage was very tasty and juicy. The ribs didn’t have a lot of meat snd too much fat, but did have good flavor. The corn in the cream corn was substantial, not mushy, and the cream wasn’t overly sweat. The Mac and cheese was a little dry but had a good flavor and the noodles were cooked just right.

I’d eat there again.

The food here is fantastic—we loved every single bite! We definitely over-ordered for just the two of us (lesson learned, haha), but it was worth it. The restaurant setup is a little unconventional, yet it totally works and adds to the charm. Everyone on staff was warm and welcoming. We tried the pint-size sides, which are plenty for 2–3 people, but with all the meat we ordered, even the smaller size would’ve been plenty. The creamed corn and mac & cheese were standouts. I also liked that they offer extras like jalapeños, onions, and pickles to complement the meal. And don’t let the gas station connection fool you—this is a must-try spot. Between the food, the service, and the atmosphere, it was such a great experience. Next time we’re in San Antonio, Rudy’s will be on our list again!

Oh my goodness, the Mac n’ cheese! Huge rigatoni pasta with a secret special sauce and seasonings, I tasted Alfredo and Cajun spices, but I can’t be sure, it was just delicious though and you need to go try it if you’re a pasta lover! The turkey and brisket was yummy, especially with Rudy’s BBQ sauce ( sweet and tangy), creamed corn was so creamy and wonderfully sweet, AND got a snack sized little peach cobbler cup for dessert that is the perfect craving fix. My dining partners only concern was the half a chicken pieces which he thought was a little undercooked on the inside and a little too burnt on the outside but I’d go back again. The dining area indoors was country themed, cute cafeteria feel, long bench tables, smelled Smokey through the whole place because of the big ol’ flame grill but I enjoyed it, very authentic Texas BBQ Joint. Outside sitting on benches looked nice also. I left sugared up, very rich flavors, a once a couple of months place to visit, but I was for sure was satisfied.

Extremely upset with the $225 group meal for 10 people. This meal was meant for the firehouse crew of 8 guys working overnight on Thanksgiving, and only six guys were able to eat. The amount of food was so little that two of them decided not to eat at all. It was embarrassing.

When picking up my order, they couldn’t even find it. It was supposed to be ready at 7:45, yet I waited over 15 minutes for my online order while others were getting their pickups right away. The manager did apologize and gave me a banana bread, which I appreciated. However, all the condiments I requested—pickles, bread, sauce, onions—were missing from the order.

Completely disappointed, especially for a Thanksgiving meal for the guys. Definitely not worth the money, and I will never place a group order again.

Rudy’s was the place. I liked everything about it. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was what I would expect. I may never return to TX but if I do, I will make a point to eat at Rudy’s.

Left hungry and unhappy.
If you want unlimited sour cream and pickles well that’s your place to go.
Make sure to bring your own meat because they surely aren’t giving it to the customer.
Not to mention the sample of corn is about the size of the serving.
Here’s a picture of the $14 sour cream potato… The three little pieces of brisket lasted me until I got to Texas Roadhouse

We invited some friends over who had never had Texas bbq and we love Rudy’s. Our guests were coming over at 6p, we were at Rudy’s at 5p ordering the family feast with sausage and more, because we love Rudy’s (did I mention we love Rudy’s?). So we stood in the line, asked for everything we felt we needed to include, and the staff, of course, was so helpful! I read that the Family Feast includes plates, pickles, onions, BBQ sauce, bread, etc., so I was excited I wouldn’t have to worry about all those extras.

However, when we got home, we were missing the extras – plates, etc. And I wasn’t prepared for the missing items. We live about 15 min away and my guests were arriving in 10 minutes.

I called the Westover Hills Rudy’s and explained my predicament. I was lucky enough to get Chris, the GM. He understood. He was amazing! He said “let me bring it to you!” It may seem like a small thing to some, but to me, it was huge! He completed my order, I was able to have everything for my guests (you simply cannot have the BBQ feast without the pickles, onions and BBQ sauce!)

The service at this place is the best we have experienced. They want you to have everything you ordered and they want you to be happy.

Chris explained to me that everything is included and there are two windows – one for the eat in and one for the take out. I have always gone into the eat in line because I love watching them cut the meat and how they interact with the customers. But, if you go to the take out window, they have all the plates, pickles, onions, etc. ready for you. Now I know.

But for him to come all the way out to make sure we had everything for our guests (and he brought a little dessert for all, too, which was unexpected and greatly appreciated) was truly above and beyond.

Thank you, Chris, and thank you Rudy’s staff. The food was even more delicious because of your excellent customer service.

Rudys! As a Brit trying out American smokehouse food, this was fantastic. We came with family who informed the staff we had never been.
Staff were very friendly and gave us many tasters of the foods, (10/10 service)

The meats were really really good, we loved them. The dry brisket was so good, sausages too, my favourite was the chopped brisket and turkey in a bbq cup portion, it was to die for. The ribs were quite chewy so not my go-to.
The sides were pretty good too, but the mac and cheese was quite dry , it needed a lot more sauce in my opinion.
Potato salad was yum, the coleslaw was crunchy, perfect and went so well with the meats and bbq sauce.

My clothes had a lingering smell of smokehouse which made me crave rudys again a must go-to spot!
