Great food, staff, and atmosphere. The fuel is just a little bit higher than I like to pay. A few cents more than buc-ee’s is worth every penny. The barbecue is far superior, and a nice place to sit down and eat, with fresh pickles and onions as well as outstanding coleslaw and sweetened tea. Thanks Rudy’s, you make my road trip very pleasant!

We each had a brisket sandwich with Rudy’s BBQ sauce. $8.99 each. I thought this was a sit-down restaurant. It’s not. You go up to the counter & order your food. Very fast! Very good. We tried their chocolate pudding dessert. It was good – if you like pudding. We stopped here because of their excellent reviews. They did not disappoint. If you’re in the area and want barbecue, this is a great place to go

Maybe not the absolute best bbq in Texas, but consistently very good and keeps me a loyal customer. Price-wise, bbq has gotten very pricey, with many places charging $12-15 and higher, for a brisket sandwich, so Rudy’s remains on the affordable side. If you have a choice, between the big tourist trap gas station and Rudy’s, bypass the beaver and keep going for BBQ that actually tastes good.

Rudy’s ‘Country Store’ and Bar-B-Q

If you’re looking for a no-fuss, Texas-style barbecue experience with a rustic charm, Rudy’s ‘Country Store’ and Bar-B-Q is the spot. From checkered tablecloths to self-serve condiments and a cafeteria-style ordering system, it’s all about the food—and Rudy’s delivers on that front.

The Breakdown of My Meal:
• Moist Brisket (aka Fatty Brisket) – Smoked overnight and seasoned in true Rudy’s fashion, this was exactly as described—moist. Maybe too moist for my personal taste, as I prefer less fat. That’s on me, not Rudy’s. Next time, I’ll stick with the leaner cut. Verdict: Good, but I’d opt for regular brisket.
• Jalapeño Sausage – A solid German-style sausage, made with half beef, half pork, plus spices and jalapeños for a kick. The snap on the casing was great, and the spice was just right—enough to wake up the taste buds without overpowering. Verdict: A must-try if you like a little heat.
• Creamed Corn – This was hands down the MVP of the meal. Sweet, creamy, and rich, with whole kernel corn in a sauce made from heavy cream, parmesan, and Rudy’s special blend of seasonings. If you only get one side, make it this one. Verdict: Absolute perfection.
• Rudy’s Beans – Pinto beans slow-cooked with brisket and Rudy’s BBQ sauce. A little spicy, a little smoky, a little tangy—these are not your average barbecue beans. Verdict: A great supporting player to the meal.
• Peach Cobbler – A warm, cinnamon-infused, baked-fresh-daily dessert with sweet peaches and a crispy, caramelized crust. It wasn’t the best cobbler I’ve ever had, but it definitely satisfied the craving for something sweet to round out the meal. Verdict: A cozy, comforting classic.

Overall Rating: (5 Stars)

Rudy’s doesn’t try to be fancy—it’s Texas BBQ, done right. The brisket was exactly what it promised to be, the sausage had a great flavor, and that creamed corn? I’d go back just for that. Next time, I’ll skip the fatty brisket in favor of the leaner cut, but overall, this was a solid barbecue experience. Would I go back? Absolutely.

Pro Tip: Don’t sleep on the creamed corn. Seriously.

At least once a month , we get the 2 meat baked potato, all the way . Usually fully loaded with meat. Today was completely opposite, very little butter if any, the meat was cut into small pieces like you would put on a salad, instead of the good size cuts . It lacked flavor and less meat and more potato than anything. I understand if they’re new , still learning , please keep it the same. If it isn’t broke , why try to fix it differently.

The food was good. It was fresh. I ordered the brisket and it was very good. The prices are a little high but they are high everywhere. The place had cool vibes and the bathrooms were clean. I will be back if I’m ever in the area again.

Pretty good moist brisket although the texture was a bit rough feeling in parts despite being very moist. The banana pudding is great as well as the buttermilk pie, also the person working there was incredibly friendly and helpful. Thank you! The turkey was some of the best turkey I have ever had, amazing job on that!

Rudy’s barbecue is one of the best chain barbecue places you’ve ever experienced. Excellent food counter service: walk up and order the meat by half a pound. You can also get sandwiches or baked potatoes. All the sides are in their fridge case by the checkout or in the kitchen. It is a great little barbecue spot. Again, it is a chain, but well worth the time in the visit. Don’t sleep on the rice crispy treats.
