Great spot overlooking the water. We sat outside and it was lovely as the sun was setting. We both had the fresh haddock lemon pepper style, mashed potatoes and a side of the wonderful veggie medley that had turnip, broccoli, and carrot in a light maple glaze. The cup of Turkey soup to start was delish And warming. My partner loved the strawberry blonde beer.
Overall a good experience.

Was a summer vacation. Place was super busy and laud even on the week day. We had to wait quite some time for service but after that wasn’t bad.
Food really good.

We are touring the maritimes…starting with Nova Scotia….drove the RV into Yarmouth and immediately felt the very cool ‘vibe’. So much so that we decided to eat out (not a common event)..did the inevitable ‘Net search and came up with Rudders.

So…Rudders is a craft brewery that has a full menu…and outside seating with a fabulous view. No..we didn’t…was a tad too cool…however, we more than made up for that with our dinners.

Sharon ordered Lobster Mac n Cheese. Panco crust..and a healthy portion of lobster. ‘We’ thought is was great. It did not have a heavy cream sauce..applauded that. Not too rich that couldn’t have dessert.

I kinda went overboard…1st, two fresh oysters on the1/2 shell. Medium sized and yummy. Then the appie sized bowl of mussels in the Cajun sauce…served with garlic baguette. I only had such a wee bit of the bread….to top it off, I had an order of seafood crepes….loaded with lobster and scallops…and I ate one, saving the second for lunch.

Sharon had the chocolate pate, for dessert…and loved it. Very rich and creamy.

We really did enjoy the food. I like getting involved with my food…fingers, tongue and lips…it’s not always pretty. My oysters and mussels satisfied that! The crepes were fork food…and all was delish!!

We had 2 appetizers, coconut shrimp and bacon wrapped scallops. Both deep fried and of average quality but good. The sauce that comes with the shrimp is a honey marmalade and was the highlight of meal.

Mains were disappointing. Fisherman’s platter just wasn’t it. Have had much better. Then a house salad add salmon, the salmon was too fishy for my taste. Salad was okay though.

Was too windy to sit outside or there is a beautiful view.

The music playing and atmosphere made the time enjoyable. Probably won’t rush back though.

We both had the Hot Lobster Roll with vegetables. They’re very generous with their lobster, the sauce for the rolls is of course fantastic and what I really found tasty was the vegetables… Turnip, carrot, broccoli… And something else I don’t remember.

it has the towns only harbour view for dining – so it has that going for it, but that’s about it. the beer isn’t my taste, but some people prefer it. every time you go something is gonna be screwed up, wrong salads, wilted greens, food that is cold, and the kitchen staff don’t really seem to care (i like onion, prefer not to have the root). but, it has the harbour view

I got the hot creamed lobster roll, and it was delicious, though a little light on lobster compared to the cold one. I paid $5 extra to upgrade to seafood chowder as the side, and it was a huge disappointment. Water, milk, a ton of butter, potatoes and a bit of not-so-great fish. No other seafood. Adding crackers, salt and pepper made it edible but not super enjoyable. It was just really disappointing. When asked how everything was, I decided to be honest and say it was disappointing, and got treated to a bit of a lecture about how it’s traditional here, and they don’t serve ‘mushy’ chowder (?) like they do in other parts of the world. I have been to some places where they do believe chowders should be ‘soupy’ but those were also flavorful…..and had some seafood other than leftover fish in them. Thankfully most other seafood chowders I’ve had in NS have been FAR better.

Set against the picturesque Yarmouth waterfront, Rudder’s Seafood Restaurant and Brew Pub unfolds as a maritime sanctuary for the palate.

With the waterfront as its panoramic canvas, the pub unveils a mesmerizing harbor view—a captivating backdrop that accompanies each dining experience.

The hospitality of the staff, coupled with their attentive service, paints a portrait of warmth and professionalism that harmonizes perfectly with the coastal ambiance. Their commitment to elevating the dining experience is palpable, creating a welcoming atmosphere that feels like a homecoming.

My choice of the fried clams and chips, well done, was a revelation in culinary finesse. The dish was a symphony of flavors—each clam expertly prepared, bathed in the right balance of seasoning. This delectable ensemble of taste and texture danced on the taste buds, further elevated by the breathtaking waterfront panorama.

While every bite was an affirmation of excellence, the portion size, albeit satisfying, left a fleeting desire for more—a minor quibble against the grander backdrop of the dining experience.

In reflection, Rudder’s Seafood Restaurant and Brew Pub is a voyage of the senses—a celebration of the sea’s bounty and the camaraderie that comes with good food and welcoming service. While a heartier portion could have crowned the affair, it doesn’t diminish the allure that this culinary haven exudes.

In summation, my encounter with Rudder’s Seafood Restaurant and Brew Pub encapsulates the soul of seaside indulgence. From the harbor view to the attentive staff, and culminating in a plate of culinary artistry, every facet resonates with excellence. A definite five-star experience, I eagerly anticipate charting my course back to this maritime sanctuary, where culinary dreams unfurl and set sail.
