My sisters and I had a mid-day Lunch Celebration before Christmas. We enjoyed everything and had fried fish, Ruby’s famous greens and hoppin Jacks , and more. EVERYTHING WAS AWESOME. There seems to be a consistent “sorry, we are out of that” comment each visit but all was well anyhow. Black Owned Business worth visiting – Black Owned and Operated worth being proud of!!! Way to Go teamRuby!!!!

There is no denying the food is absolutely Delicious! I have no complaints about the quality or taste of the various dishes I have eaten from Ruby’s. However, I finally tried the blackened salmon, once again Delicious! Here is the problem, if what I was given as a portion is Ruby’s standard for this dish. I can get this same dish, same quality and better proportioned for $28.62. I hope they do better!!!

I was pleasantly surprised. Normally any type of soul food is overhyped and overpriced, however this was different. Went for lunch on Friday afternoon to a 50 % capacity dine in. Ordering was very easy with server repeating back what you ordered for correct placement. I knew it was going to be tasty being that there were zero condiments on tables or around the restaurant. Food came within 15 minutes hot and flavorful. It needed no seasoning at all. Food was amazing for the cost with large portions. Only negative was it came in a plastic plate covered which added water vapor that added some sogginess to my crispy fish. I get the reason why served in take home dishes, so you can have it available with out asking. Either way, a must stop.

Good food and nice variety of dishes. Order at the counter and you pick it up when ready. Fried chicken wings were good as was the shrimp pasta. Honey biscuits were also excellent and I thought better than the cornbread.

I read and watched reviews about Ruby’s and planned to drive an hour from where I live to go try the best soul food in Bowie…only to be sorely disappointed. Things started off great, the customer service from the time we entered the door was unmatched. A good greeting always makes me want to spend money.I ordered smothered pork chops, mashed potatoes, mac & cheese and yams. My friend order friend chicken, mac & cheese, hoppin’ john, candied yams and greens. We both had cornbread and not biscuits. Honestly, I judge all soul food restaurants by their macaroni and cheese and this recipe failed miserably. I’m not sure if it was a fancy cheese added to the recipe or if they scorched a pot of noodles and still mixed with the béchamel sauce and served it anyway, but it had a pungent smell and was simply made my favorite dish inedible. The pork chops (2) were a good size but overcooked and tough as steak to cut or bite into. The gravy did not taste made from scratch but very much made from a jar and seasoned. The chicken (4 wings) were fried crispy, seasoned well and a good size. The greens were overcooked as well and mushy and the candied sweet potatoes had a decent flavor but mushy and overcooked as well. The cornbread was dense and sweet but mostly stuck to the paper that they stuffed into which made it harder to enjoy but it was probably the only edible portion of the meal. My friend thought the hoppin’ john was okay but I have had hoppin’ john from South Carolina and it was delicious, Ruby’s version…not so much. I hate writing reviews like this and I have to say that we took our order to go or I would have told the manger immediately that I wasn’t satisfied with the quality of the food and not written a public review. But driving an hour in one direction, wasting close to $60 on food but not being able to enjoy it was a huge disappointment.

Kind of fast food, but homemade GOOD food! Order at the counter and they call your name. I got the three-piece fried chicken meal, which came with two sides and a bread. I chose roasted veggies, Mac n cheese, and cornbread. Everything was hot and delicious! No joke, the Mac was creamy and cheesy, the vegetables tasted great, the chicken was crispy, cooked perfectly, and hot, and the cornbread was sweet with a hint of vanilla or something. Everything tasty, and I think the price was just $18. Employees were very nice, on their game, and fast. Great job, all!

I purchased two chicken wing platters that came with two sides. The food tasted amazing; however, the portion sizes are too small. The tray, which is used for the sides, was half full. They give you a large portion of meat but a spoonful of sides.

Great Southern Cooking never disappoints. I ordered the chicken and dumplings and the beef stew with rice-both were classic, hearty comfort foods and perfect during this winter snowstorm. Portions were generous, the food was hot and flavorful, and the customer service was excellent as always. I’m a frequent customer and will definitely be back once the snow and ice are cleared a bit more off the roads. See you soon!!

I had no idea this place even existed so it was a pleasant surprise to stumble upon the goodness that is Ruby’s Southern Comfort Kitchen!!! If you grew up with a Southern grandmother like I did who is no longer here, then go quickly to RSK for a taste of nostalgia. We tried the greens, mac and cheese (fire!!!), potato salad ( fire) and smothered Turkey wings along with the yummy cornbread. The plate was perfection and I left with a happy tummy and big smile on my face. Oh, and a nice portion remained for leftovers.

My husband and I ate there on Saturday for the first time. I haven’t had good smothered pork chops since my mom passed, and when I tell you, they were delicious! I’m telling you the truth! My husband had grits, eggs, and bacon, and he said it was We will definitely be back. The service is professional and friendly.
