A Ruby in the rough. I’m just getting a haircut down the block and decided to try it out. I was pleasantly surprised with the flavors. Staff was very friendly and patient. The Pad Kra Pao was sweet and spicy Wife also pleased

I was excited about this place since I love the Highwood location, but it just wasn’t that good. I came for lunch and it was very empty. The lunch special is now $19 and the Pad Thai noodles were dry and crunchy at parts. The lime chicken was still great, tho! But for a $25 lunch, you want to be impressed.. and it fell short.

I was very happy with Ruby of Siam! The service was very friendly, the food was fantastic, and the Thai ice tea is very authentic and great. I loved their serving dishes as well! We ordered a duck curry (which came in a duck shaped bowl and was stuffed to the brim with fresh, crunchy and colourful vegetables) and chicken pad Thai. The jasmine rice came in another lovely ornate bowl. I also love that they use toast for the checkout – I love the convenience of the app. We will definitely be back.

THE place for Thai food in Skokie!
I ordered the tofu pad thai and lime chicken. Highly recommend these two dishes.
The lime chicken is nice and crispy and comes with a good amount of rice (in a fancy silver container). The pad thai is standard and always a solid pick. I just wish they put more peanuts in it!

TRY RUBY OF SIAM!!!
Don’t let any previous reviews deter you. I don’t recall they had the lunch special last time I was here. It’s fantastic! $15 includes drink, appetizer, soup or salad and an entree. Each of your four choices have MANY options to choose from.
The pic of the cucumber salad was after I started eating…sorry about that. Everything was great. That lime chicken appetizer was possibly my favorite part of the meal but the curry was first rate too!
Staff was quick and friendly. There wasn’t any music playing when I came in so the atmosphere was initially too quiet for me. Once other customers started arriving they played some soft non offensive music.
If you love Thai…GO! If you don’t know if you like Thai…TRY IT!!!

I recently dined at Ruby of Siam, excited to experience their Thai cuisine, but left disappointed. The sardines salad, which I anticipated to be an authentic Thai style dish, turned out to be ordinary canned sardines, lacking the freshness and flavor I was looking forward to. Additionally, the satay skewers were tough to chew, not meeting the expectations of their normally tender and flavorful reputation. To add to the disappointment, a simple dish for my little nephew, scrambled eggs, was served burnt. This experience was far from what I hoped for from a restaurant that claims to offer authentic Thai cuisine.

We have been going to Ruby of Siam for a long time. Whenever we are in the area, we like to go there as we have enjoyed the food. The manager had previously been nice, with no problems.
Today, I went in with my elderly parents and right from when we walked in, the manager (I think her name is Jasmine) treated us as if we were not wanted. She was rude when spoken to on multiple occasions during our meal. For example, my father asked for salt, and she said “oh you should have asked me before.”
I tried to address this with her and told her that she had always been nice when we have come in before, and if everything was okay with her? She responded rudely to this as well and walked away before I could finish. She walked away rolling her eyes with much arrogance as well.
The food we got today was also very oily and the onions in one dish tasted really off.
We will not be going back here ever. There are plenty of good Thai places in the vicinity.
It is not acceptable to treat repeat (or any) customers with such haughtiness and rudeness all through the meal.

We had a good experience here at Ruby of Siam. The dining room booth was nice and cozy. We ordered the pad Thai noodle, and the drunken noodles, and sweet-and-sour chicken. Our entrées arrived quickly. Everything was hot and delicious. Our server was very nice and took good care of us. This place is conveniently located to the DoubleTree By Hilton across the road. Will be back!

The service is sub-par, even when the place isn’t that busy. I’ve lived in the neighborhood for 2 years and I’ve only been there twice. This time around, I was hoping that the food was better. It wasn’t. The food is average and the flavors are quite monotone. There are definitely better Thai places out there. I wouldn’t recommend this place to people looking for a high quality Thai meal. You know it’s not good when your mini, fried spring rolls are the best part of the meal…
