As a thriller and romance author, I’m always on the lookout for a good lunch. I visited Rubio’s at Grossmont Center for dinner, and wow. This place gets crazy busy. The business was hopping, almost every table was full, and fish tacos were flying out to tables and to-go orders nonstop.
As a thriller author, I always enjoy Rubio’s because the atmosphere reminds me of some of my travel adventures in Mexico. It’s a great place to soak in the vibe and spark new story ideas.
The food is solid, and the drinks are just as good. The staff are super courteous and work as fast as they can. They could probably double the crew and still be going all out.
The only challenge here in the evening is parking. Grossmont Center has always been tight on spaces, but that’s not Rubio’s fault. Just something to keep in mind.
I can’t get enough of the fish tacos. Love it.

Always consistently good. Love the menus given a variety of choices. Everything always tastes good and comes out in a timely fashion. Also like substituting different sides.
Always been a loyal follower, since you opened up your first location on Mission Bay drive. Glad you are able to keep it still open. I stopped by every time I’m in that neighborhood even if i’m not hungry.
After a long day of body surfing, or hiking the trails or mountain biking, nothing quenches my appetite like a couple of Mahi Mahi fish tacos and fresh Salsa or lobster burrito . Also love tortilla soup on a cold night.

In years past, I used to frequent this location for their veggie burrito. Decided to try the annual fish and chips plate. Big mistake. 2 pieces of fish smaller than the french fries and they ran out of coleslaw (30 minute wait )

Ordered 3 fish taco combo and steak burrito with chips and guacamole. Delivered hot and well packaged. Tacos were a good size portion. Burrito had a bit too much rice and not enough steak. Chips were hot, fresh and crisp. Guacamole was hand made, very fresh and delicious. Will order delivery again.

It’s been more than 3 years since I last ate at Rubio’s. I got the Mexican Street Corn Bowl with steak and chicken for $13.99 and a soda bottle for $3.79. There’s also a salad and salsa bar if you’re interested! The atmosphere is very nice, and the service is great. Happy tummy with my leftovers!

An busy area for sure. This location with Yvonne and her crew is amazing . The service is excellent. I wonder what had happened to the one in Rancho San Diego near Jamacha…ah well…that is what I found out that the team left to Grossmont area. I have no idea how long ago. I’ve been in Spring Valley 5 yrs. Anyhow, customer service is wonderful and the quality of people here even the customers are kind and courteous. Let’s keep it that way. Stay awesome! Thank you!
