Either Christopher Rowe knows nothing about barbecue, or he is a paid representative of Rudy’s, trying to damage the reputation of a great local Rio Rancho business. Obviously he missed the huge pile of Post Oak out back (the traditional smoking wood for Texas barbecue), which they use to smoke all their meats on site. I’ve never had a cut of meat from Smokehouse that wasn’t well-smoked and tender, with a nice pink smoke ring under the bark.
My wife and I order from Smokehouse regularly. Just last night we were enjoying fall off the bone tender ribs, which I can tell you from experience stack up well against the ribs that come off some of the best barbecue pits in St. Louis and Kansas City. If you go, make sure to ask for their hot bbq sauce. SO GOOD, with it’s extra tangy flavor.
Plus, the staff is friendly, service is fast, and the decor is funny. What more could you want out of a local barbecue joint?

I’ve had better barbecue in a microwave tv dinner. There’s not even a smoker there. The employee was pulling the meat out of a microwave. The proof is in the lack of a smoke ring. The meat was dry and tough to boot. The sauce was decent. The cobbler was pretty good, but they charge way too much for the tiny bit they give you. I’ve spent some time in Memphis and Kansas City eating at the best barbecue joints, so do yourself a favor and go down the street to Rudy`s. You wont regret it.
In response to Phil Clark: I wish I was paid to endorse good restaurants. I wouldn’t have to be working a minimum wage job. I did not walk around the back to look at their wood. How often does one actually walk around the back of a restaurant? Maybe most of the time their “barbecue” is tasty and falls off the bone. The jerky that I was served was indeed being pulled out of a microwave. Does a smoker make a beeping sound and come out wrapped in plastic? The stuff I was served was. And there was no smoke ring. Further proof that what I had was not actually smoked. Liquid smoke can make something tasty, but its not barbecue.

Really wanted some ribs, heard they are great, but they were out; same with the chicken. Brisket was tender but without the sauce, which was good, didn’t have a lot of flavor. Friendly staff and relaxed environment but on this visit everything was just ok. I plan on trying again and I hope my next visit will be better.

Delicious, smoky moist meats. My husband and I love the brisket with coleslaw and the kids love the turkey with the macaroni/cheese. Also love their new sweet potato fries, yum! above and beyond service. That is all. 🙂

payed 15.00 for old cole slaw rib and chicken 2
pieces and got leg ang thigh but no meat on thigh and was old food. A friend went to try it and throw pulled pork in trash it was soo bad. will not go back if there’s a rudys bbq in the area you would think you would put out your best and you did not. I support local bussiness but not when their that bad.Fix it or you’ll never make it .

Horrible! Was there this past Saturday. If you like overpriced pre-cooked low-quality food from an aluminum pan than go for it. Meat is the lowest grade and was 80% fat. Chicken was dry. To top it off I got sick on Sunday and I’m sure it was from a bug in the food. (I never get sick)
I’d go hungry before ever going back…………………

Okay food, usually the people are nice. Sometimes they seem to wish you weren’t there but they help you anyway. But then sometimes you go in and they are hyping the food telling you what is good and what isn’t. The food is just okay, it’s a higher price than fast food and maybe slightly healthier but when I eat there I don’t think about going back. It isn’t an experience where I want more. I am just glad I had food and I am not hungry anymore. It’s very mediocre.

Great barbecue best I’ve had in Albuquerque so far super tender brisket nice smoke ring on the ribs great eats if your starving really good size portions thumbs way thanks for the new bbq hot spot
