This place nails the balance between laid-back neighborhood bar and legitimately great food. Let’s be clear, this is bar food, but it’s bar food executed at a level that honestly rivals a lot of full-on restaurants.

The pizza came out hot, crispy on the edges, cheesy in all the right ways, and loaded with toppings. You can tell they actually care about what they’re serving. The burger was an absolute standout too, juicy, messy, perfectly cooked, and stacked with flavor. The kind of burger you don’t forget about the next day.

And the drinks? Top tier. Their mixed drinks are strong, balanced, and dangerously easy to keep ordering. Pair that with ice-cold draft beer straight from the tap, and it’s game over.

The atmosphere is classic East Nashville where I grew up, relaxed, welcoming, and full of locals who clearly know they’ve found a gem. Nothing pretentious, just a great spot to hang out, eat well, and have a few drinks.

Roy’s Tavern absolutely delivers. Whether you’re stopping in for happy hour, late-night food, or just a solid burger and beer, this place hits every time. Easily one of my favorite local spots.

Will be back often.

This is probably a 3.5 star place. It’s a bar… Service wasn’t overly friendly until you’re there for awhile. Seems like more of a locals hangout but we stopped in to watch a game (they didn’t seem to be open to turning specific games on so you get what you get). They have multiple tv’s so we found a spot to watch the game we wanted. Beer was decent and finally ordered some food which was surprisingly super good. Parking can get a little tight.

Caesar was really good. Pizza is a whole tray, tavern pizza was delicious. Service was good.
Shot glasses are bit deceiving as the bottoms are higher glass so doesn’t seem like a real shot pour. Also on our last pickle back order we didn’t get the pickle juice and when we asked the bartender picked up a shaker from the sink and water poured down his arm into our drinks as he pouring them, so we did not drink that

We came in yesterday to watch an NFL game. The food was good (not mind-blowing), and the overall vibe was fun with great TV placement. We ordered the chopped cheese, the Italian, and the wings, all of which were solid. The pizza looked great as well, so we went ahead and ordered two to take home for the next day.

Unfortunately, the bar service and cocktails were a significant disappointment. None of the drinks ordered were complicated — margaritas and a Long Island — and as someone who worked in the service industry for 12 years, including several years bartending, these are not difficult drinks to execute. I understand this is a bar, but it is not a dive (which I wouldn’t order a margarita at), and the menu lists $12 margaritas. What we received tasted like alcohol mixed with a heavy amount of sweet & sour, with no balance or freshness. I tried two different margaritas and couldn’t finish either.

I eventually switched to a tequila and Coke, which was strong and fine — understandably hard to mess up with two ingredients which was made by the other (male) bartender who gave the impression that he simply didn’t enjoy interacting with guests.

The more concerning issue was a safety one: my tequila and Coke was served in a glass with visible chips in the rim. When I asked our main bartender (the only female) for a new glass and mentioned the issue, there was no apology, and the same drink was simply poured into a different glass. While I’m giving the benefit of the doubt that the chipped glass was an accident, any chipped glass should result in the drink being remade due to the risk of glass contamination.

I completely understand that mistakes happen in busy, loud environments — I’ve been there myself — but the combination of poorly made drinks, lack of professionalism, and how the glass issue was handled was enough for us to decide we won’t be returning. Nashville has too many other bars to choose from to justify this experience.

The food and atmosphere were decent, but the bar program and service ultimately fell short.

Pizza was AMAZING and that 69 sauce was INSANE!!! Never had double fried lemon pepper wings let alone ones that tasted like this. Too good.

I didn’t eat the food but it all looked very good. The drinks were stout and delicious and the dart boards and pool tables were a ton of fun. I can’t wait to go back and try the food. I bought some drinks for friends and myself and wife; five Tito’s and sodas, five makers mark and soda and one bourbon mule. Total price with tip was about $120. So about $9+tip per drink.

The tavern is absolutely legit. It’s exactly what you think it would be. From the food to the atmosphere it’s great. The beers cold and the food is hot. 21 and up so it’s awesome. Also checkout my YouTube channel

It has darts and a pool table. Reminds me of a small town bar from back in the day. Looks like it has regulars and a mixed crowd of youngsters to a seasoned crowd. Come and check it out and I should’ve taken more pics but I was to busy with the margaritas and chopped beef sandwich.

Best bartenders, bar backs, kitchen staff, atmosphere, and management! Always friendly, and attentive. If there’s ever a problem they solve it! Just great vibes and awesome food. They also play great music. They have darts, pool, tvs, and a sick patio. They are one of my favorite bars in Nashville by far and a staple in the neighborhood/ east! I give them 5 stars for so many reasons- they are a safe haven for the community and make all feel welcome! Love these dudes and gals!

Went completely blind not knowing what to expect. It was busy and the atmosphere of the place was great. It is first come first serve, and there weren’t as much seats the time we went. We ordered two pizzas and I’m confident it was almost like a 40-50 minute wait. The pizza was burnt and wasn’t worth the wait or the money. The beers were flat as well. At the end of the day I would come back the place does seem like a good atmosphere and the service from the front was great. Price wise everything else does seem ok.

Love Roy’s the music turned me off. Can’t do the rap cursing music I go here to relax. Great people and good food. I don’t mind rap but just keep in mind everyone is different. Good drinks and welcome to a new bar tender Olivia. Good to meet you. Install a system where we can choose. I love having the new menu. Salad is good.
