We stopped in for an early dinner and couldn’t have made a better choice. The spinach pakora arrived perfectly crispy on the outside with tender spinach inside – absolutely addictive with both the dips. The butter chicken was rich and velvety, exactly what you want when you’re craving comfort food. My husband’s lamb vindaloo had the perfect heat level and the meat was incredibly tender.
The basmati rice was fluffy and fragrant, and can we talk about that naan? Fresh, warm, and perfectly charred – we were tearing into it immediately. Everything worked together beautifully.
Here’s the best part: we discovered their buy one get one free deal on mains between 2-5pm daily! Who doesn’t love a delicious surprise that’s also budget-friendly? The value is incredible, but honestly, we would have been just as happy paying full price because the food is that good.
The service was friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even better. We’re already planning our next visit – and you can bet we’ll be coming back between 2-5pm!
Highly recommend Roy’s for anyone craving authentic Indian cuisine in Tsawwassen. This is a gem you don’t want to miss.
Honestly as you can see from the photos that the place was quite peaceful and clam
The view from window In a rainy day such a peace of mind
Talking about food YOU ALL NEED TO TRY !!!
As you all know it’s an Indian restaurant which you might think about spicy level but honestly you can get the home feeling from this place just having a single bite of food.
I have tried the hot tea over here bc it’s raining outside and wanted to have something hot, it is SUPERB!!!
You guys have to come and enjoy this, no words to explain.
SPECIAL THANK to the staff who were in front desk supported me for choosing things bc I’m not that much familiar with the Indian food even tho I have tried so many other places.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ANYONE WHO WANTED TO HAVE PEACE TIME!!
Also no heavy noises like other places
Even the music is light!
Thank you again
Hope you guys also feel what felt about here
The mutton dish was especially well done — tender, flavourful and clearly cooked with care. Appetizers were on point, light but sizeable in portion, and the lassi was refreshingly light.
If I had to offer constructive feedback: for a menu boasting such a wide range of fish dishes, relying solely on a pseudo fish like Basa (especially in a seafood-rich region like Vancouver) feels like a missed opportunity. Also, as someone who prefers to eat Indian food traditionally with hands, the absence of proper paper towels in the washroom was a small but noticeable oversight. The jackfruit is tasty though seems canned which one can live with as it is rather hard to source fresh raw jackfruit locally.
Ambience is a touch darker than expected, but it actually works well with the instrumental music and overall vibe.
All in all, Roy’s is a promising spot for those who appreciate regional touches and clean, well-prepared Indian fare. Will be back.
Overall we had a great time here.
Ok Edit in the original post:
Not all bengali food are authentic here. For example the Prawns Malai Curry had tomato and pickles (Aachar) in it. I am not sure why? Also prawn malai curry is supposed to made with coconut milk which was not at all used in this version of malai curry. I can confidently say this malai curry is not authentic at all.
Basonti polao is just yellow colored steamed rice with a few raisins- it didn’t taste like the Kolkata/WestBengal cuisine. It also lacked desi ghee which is a very important ingredient for Basonti Polao.
Hence taking out a ⭐️ from the original rating
All the dishes we ordered were great and the mango lassi to top it off was the cherry on top.
I don’t think they have a high chair but they did give us a booster seat.
We stopped at Roy’s on our way from Victoria to Vancouver after a long day of sightseeing. We reached 10 minutes before closing time, they had already closed the kitchen and were winding up for the day. When I told them I had specially come to sample their Bengali cuisine with my family, all the way from the east coast, they opened their kitchen and hearts for us.
The food was cooked to perfection. We celebrated my husband’s 50th with his favourite; kosha mangsho ( slow cooked goat curry) which reminded me of home. The flaky laccha parantha was perfect with it. 10/10
We had the prawn curry with lime leaves and it was spicy and so so delicious. We washed it down with gur-er rosogolla (cottage cheese balls soaked in a sweet jaggery syrup)and my only regret was that I didn’t pack more to takeaway.
It was an outstanding meal, cooked to perfection, authentic Bengali food in every sense. The staff was extremely helpful and made our dining experience at Roy’s one that was really special.
Thank you Roy’s for bringing the Indian hospitality and food to Canada. You made a lasting impression on us and we can’t wait to come back when we are back on the West Coast.
We came in with high expectations because of the rating, but were quite disappointed with the food – flavors et al. Between the two of us we ordered the Manchurian cauliflower, the paneer peas and a naan. The Manchurian was ok. The paneer was entirely flavorless – the gravy tasted like dal, which was so weird.
After all this, I chalked it up to just picking bad options on the menu. But 30 minutes after, I had an upset stomach and my partner had full blown food poisoning – that has definitely tipped my experience to a negative one.
Service is very nice though. The servers are super attentive and good come about super quickly.
