After 4 years of helping other restaurants be successful in New Mexico and Texas, Roy Cassada seized an opportunity to open his own place in his parent’s and grandparent’s home town of Hobart, Oklahoma, at the ripe old age of 20! After running a wildly successful restaurant and catering business for 9 years in southwest Oklahoma, concerns about the Highway expansion encroaching on his business and a need to be closer to OKC for medical treatment for their daughter prompted Roy and his wife Stephanie (whom he married after she began working at the restaurant) to move their family (including 3 children at this point) to the Oklahoma City area and begin an insurance career. Roy built a hugely successful insurance agency on integrity, hard work

Just one little hiccup. Meat was room temp. Serve it 165°. Other than that, some of the best tasting meat I’ve had. Very nice employees. Cream corn is unbeatable. I could eat that all day long.

Delicious! First time here and won’t be the last! Order your food at the counter and it will be delivered to your table. We stopped for dinner with the express interest in the chicken fried steak and gravy. It was totally worth the drive from Colorado Springs. Made to order. You can tell high quality ingredients were used. A huge plate which includes two side dishes and corn bread.

Got the brisket sandwich. Meats are great. Pinto beans also great.
A better bun would have made a big difference, as would a selection of BBQ sauces. Perhaps I missed some, but only found one style and it wasn’t that great.

The only thing good about this place was the employees. Not sure if it was an off day or bad timing. I had brisket , no flavor what so ever. The bbq sauce that you can get. No real flavor. A comment about the chicken fried steak was that it didn’t taste the same as last time I think someone even asked if they hit a new cook. Mmm the cream corn was good. Someone else said the corn bread was good but I was at an end with the brisket, sorry to say. Oh the spicy link was good.

We came here because we smelled the smoker and meat aroma in the air getting gas one day. So we came back took the amazing drive down from buffalo creek. This is absolutely amazing BBQ. I had the pork belly burnt ends and a cat fish platter. My wife had the biscuits and gravy. The burnt ends were perfect the sauce is delicious. The fish was tender juicy perfectly battered. But the star of the show was the biscuits they were flakey buttery and almost cake like. Believe me I will be back and asking for a side biscuit because it is perfection. I know woodland park might be a drive but I promise you it is worth a 3 hr drive for BBQ this good.
Came back got tractor sandwich. This was a great choice all the meats a bun for show. I went to town on this like an absolute animal sause all over my beard grunts sweat dripping. I was in BBQ heaven. I will admit I won’t be skipping the pork belly burnt ends ever again. I have dreams about them still.

Friendly staff and good eats. Portions were hearty and filling – expect to have leftovers. Recommend the brisket Mac n cheese bowl, 1/2 rack of ribs, coleslaw, peach tea, and the berry cobbler. They have a little topping bar with sauces, pickles, jalapenos, etc.
Parking available in lot and on street. Seems wheelchair friendly and restrooms are available. Thanks for a good experience

Employees were super friendly and did a good job. Wish they had more sauce selections. We both found the regular sauce to be very thin with a vinegary taste. The brisket sandwich was premixed with sauce but the pork wasn’t. Probably would’ve put hot on the brisket had it not already had the regular. The pulled pork sandwich had a massive piece of fat (as pictured) that was longer than my hand and seriously the size of the folded napkin. Ha. If they weigh the meat per sandwich, I got a lot less meat than normal since fat weighs a lot. The buns were a bit hard on the bottom, the fries were okay, the onion rings were very tasty, the cobbler was decent but had an odd flavor (maybe use tap water?) and very thick crust. We will give them another try because the meat was delicious!

Second year getting a Thanksgiving ham from Roy’s. It’s moist, flavorful, and just amazing, as always! Aside from the ham, we always enjoy the chicken fried steak, okra, cobbler, & homemade ice cream. Love our local bbq spot & the owners are sweet!

2nd trip to Roy’s in this current location. It’s great. Chicken Fried Steak better than any in the area. Excellent BBQ! Hard to pick from sides and did someone say homemade cobbler and ice cream! Leave room for it, it’s worth the trip alone! If you haven’t tried it, you are missing out! Wish we still had them in SW Oklahoma but thankful we can visit and get our Roy’s fix!

The ribs were great but the onion rings were just ok, no real flavor. The staff were friendly and my order was ready quickly. The parking lot is small, I ended up parking on the street although they were not busy inside.
The prices were reasonable.
