It was time to get another fix of Hawaiian comfort food so we hit up L&L BBQ in the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center food court. We can’t hang with the full size plate so we both ordered minis, I had Loco Moco and my son had BBQ chicken. They were still huge portions and piping hot. It was a nice food court and the staff was friendly and efficient. L&L BBQ is a favorite of mine so we definitely recommend it if you like or want to try Hawaiian Comfort food..

Here on vacation and have been craving a good loco moco for days. Finally said I’ll just get it from L&L. It was amazing. Well seasoned burger patty, savory gravy, two eggs perfectly sunny side up, with two scoops Mac salad and one scoop rice. It was a wonder. Husband had the shrimp and steak. Not exaggerating. Their shrimp gives all the famous shrimp trucks a run for their money. One of the best shrimps we’ve had yet. Highly recommend this place ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What a Mistake It Was to Order Food From Here
As L&L has been around for awhile, we had a nostalgia moment and decided to order the BBQ Mix Plate from here. At first glance my food looked good though somewhat pricey. However the teriyaki steak was a slice of some kind of beef that was days old and the short ribs were okay at best. But the worst surprise of all was the bbq chicken. There were 3 pieces – the one presented on top was good but the two other pieces hidden underneath the other meats were like leather at best and were completely inedible. The one bite I had had a strange, not good taste.
Best advice – stay away from here. Much better options at this food court.

I ordered beef from this L&L location and was very disappointed to find that it was undercooked/raw. This is a serious food safety concern and needs to be addressed immediately. Serving raw beef when it’s supposed to be fully cooked poses a health risk to customers.
I hope management takes this seriously and ensures the kitchen staff are properly checking food temperatures before serving.
I asked the front desk lady to heat up the meat and she told me in America that beef is supposed to be this rare.

L&L Hawaiian BBQ is located in the upper level food court with all the other fast food restaurant. When we went on Sunday evening, it was very busy and there was a line up to order food. We ordered the Hawaiian mixed platter and a drink which came to $30. The platter came with 2 scoops of rice, grilled meats, and we changed the default macaroni salad to a green salad. Meat was very chewy but flavour was on-point. You really need your hands to eat the meat off the bone. As a non-local, I enjoyed this much more than the Rainbow Drive-In’s mixed platter.

We stopped here for lunch, and I found it underwhelming. The service was okay but the food was not very good. My wifes barbecue burger was so bad she took 2 bites and then threw it away. Also, when they gave us our food, they just tossed it on the top of the display and said, “Here.”

The food was okay. I had a seafood plate mix. The teriyaki sirloin was good, but the rest of the ingredients — fish, shrimp, rice and salad — were completely plain. The helping was big, but it makes no difference because you end up with a great amount of tasteless food. Totally overpriced for what you get. Service was nice and quick though. Disappointed overall.

Had chicken katsu and it was a large portion for a reasonable price. Located in the food court the ambiance as expected. The BBQ sauce was sweet and not hot. Overall a pleasant experience.

Had the worst experience I’ve ever had. Never in my life have I gotten food poisoning. I got to experience it for the first time after ordering my usual order of Kalua Pork at this establishment. I had never been to this specific L&L Hawaiian but I’ve eaten from the chain before. Unfortunately, I got violently ill just a few hours after eating part of my meal. The best part was getting ill mid flight back to LAX. Suffice to say I won’t be eating from here ever again.

It’s in a food court. Food is pretty good. Portions are large – the “Mini ” is actually enough for two people. Had the bbq beef with Mac salad and rice . A little pricey, but it’s Hawaii – food is crazy expensive!
