We ordered Sets A and D. They were out of pineapple buns, so we had to substitute with a steamed BBQ pork bun. The drinks—a foundational part of any HK-style cafe—needs a lot of improvement. The milk tea had no flavor, and even after switching to an iced lemon tea, it was still bland.
On the positive side, the BBQ pork rice noodle roll was good, with a generous portion and flavorful char siu. We also liked the Jiaozi. However, the service was slow, and the food took a terribly long time to come out.
Tip: Parking is on the side and shared with Delicious Food Corner next door.
We ordered the beef stir fry, the spicy fish, some crispy pork. And let me tell you, the beef stir fry is like never before what I’ve experienced from a chinese restaurant. It was so tender and filled with flavor, you could tell it was high quality meat. The water-fried buns (水煎包) was also really crispy at the bottom and skin was really thin. These other places, even Shanghai restaurants, make it not crispy at the bottom and thick wrap. I’m surprised a Cantonese place makes it MUCH better than Shanghai places.
Service was phenomenal. Staff and even owner was extremely friendly. Did not rush and even though we needed multiple things back-to-back, it wasn’t like a “why didn’t you ask me to get this earlier” attitude. Our server was nice every time. Owner was sharing some experiences and is open for improvement, and food should be coming out much quicker in the next couple weeks!
Excited to come back to this spot.
Dish #1, roast duck with rice – After waiting over an hour, it never arrived. We had to ask about it a few times. The first time we inquired, the waiter told us it was sold out (why didn’t you tell us after we ordered it?). So we ordered a different type of roast meat that the waiter said was available. After waiting for some time, we asked about it again and were told it was almost ready. After waiting some more, we were then told it was almost done and being cut up right now. Finally after even more more waiting, we gave up and just wanted to pay and leave.
Dish #2, beef noodles and lemon tea – The beef noodles was the first dish to arrive. The lemon tea never came, so we asked the waiter about it. He said there was no more and they were currently brewing more tea. He said he would bring some water instead but that never came.
Dish #3, set with bbq pork rice noodles, pineapple bun, dumplings, and milk tea. The pineapple bun was out and they substituted with a steamed bbq pork bun without prior notification. But all the other items did eventually come out.
During the whole time, it was awkward because nearby tables regularly had to ask the staff for basic things like having plates and a menu so they could order, asking where their dishes were, and talking about how long they had to wait.
The food itself was fine, but you can get it at other HK style restaurants in the area without waiting for unreasonable lengths of time or having to flag down the staff about your food. I wanted to be patient because I understand this restaurant just opened, but I don’t think I’ve encountered this level of service before.
