We recently dined at Royal Tandoori in Reading and ordered a variety of dishes including:

– Royal Tandoori Mix
– Garlic Naan
– Mutton Rogan Josh
– Chicken Tikka
– Chicken Wings
– Fried Rice
– Dahi Puri

The food was delicious, with rich flavours and good presentation. However, the portion size of the Royal Tandoori Mix was not very great considering the price.

What truly let the experience down was the attitude of the staff. From the moment we arrived, the service felt cold and unwelcoming. The staff were not pleasant and at times even rude, which made the dining experience uncomfortable.

While the kitchen clearly knows how to deliver on taste, the lack of hospitality overshadowed the meal. Customer service is just as important as the food, and unfortunately, this visit didn’t meet expectations.

Very poor service and it looks like the servers have a dimentia problems.Getting wrong orders and forgeting lots of things. The customer service is poor or I can say it’s very bad. Very often I go to this restaurant but looks like they don’t know what they are up to.The owner of this restaurant needs to look into this matters otherwise the ratings of this restaurant will go down and I really appreciate the cooks for their delicious food what they cook.Food is really delicious bit not the service.I have been in hospitality for so many years but was not expecting this from royal tandoori.Take aways are like the app Will show one estimate timing when the food will be delivered to you , but you have to wait an another hour for their delivery. Can’t really understand what’s going on.They need someone to guide them.Poor hospitality.

I was lucky enough points to visit here with the world Record holder for spicy currys (2023), David Turner.

He asked to make his curry 10x hotter than the one on the menu, and they delivered.

We all had a great time here!

I got take out and i was really disappointed with the food. It was swimming in oil and really poor quality flavours. A couple of bits of chicken (literally) in a tub of sauce does not a curry make! Really wouldnt recommend.

We visited after looking at some google reviews and comments on maps, and we were amazed at Royal Tandoori.

We tried their veg and non-veg lunch full course meal with chicken tikka starters and lamb korma which was tasty and served enough for a single person. Plus their veg starters like samosa were good too.

A nice place to have lunch or dinner with a pleasant atmosphere, good for small groups with friends or family.

I’ve dined here for a number of years when in Reading on business.

I always have the chicken Chettinadu with jeera rice which I enjoy on every occasion, most recently with extra green chillies, it worked really well in this dish.

As noted in other reviews, the service leaves a little to be desired. It isn’t bad, but it could a bit better (i.e. more friendly). It’s not bad place, the food is good and it’s priced reasonably, I shall return.

We visited this restaurant for dinner and we got a table right away. The waiter was friendly, and the service was fast. I did not realize the tandoori chicken and lamb were served on a hot plate. It was quite good, but I have to say the poppadoms are the commercial ones. It’s rather tasteless, I do not recommend ordering them. The Naan was alright.

If you respect and value your food, never visit them. Yuckkkkkk …

On 19/12 I made a visit along with 2 other friends. Am a vegeterian and I have dietary restrictions and religious sentiments. My other 2 frnds are happy with meat dishes.
The horrible servings started right from 1st order.

When we ordered a panner + lamb as starters, lamb dish was cold, as if taken from fridge. We politely asked them to heat the dish as it’s expected the food is not fresh from the vibes over there.
When we ordered mains, hair toppings appeared to our surprise. Not just once but thrice, yuckkkk… So once again with some annoying face and yet with sarcastic smile asked them to replace the dish.
My main dish Panner chettinad was written and noted down by Divyesh (the one who has taken my order) , but I was served Chicken Chettinad. I had 1 peice of it and then found it’s a meat. They hurted my religious sentiment which am proud of and trying to keep it sacred since decades.
When asked , a reply was a smile and as usual apologies and mistake.

I asked for their email which was given to me by Divyesh to raise a compliant on the above issues.

They cannot value your dietary requirements.
They cannot respect hygenic requirements.
They don’t know what is hot food.

I doubt their kitchen cleanliness and their hygene standards. Having seen long hair in the dishes repeatedly I thought of complianing to any relevant agency to inspect them once again.

If you value your money, never visit them.
