Good food, nice variety to choose from. The place is clean and the food area is clean and always well stocked.
Wait staff doesn’t come around very often to fill your drinks. They do pick up used plates right away that’s a plus.
The decor is out dated you can tell it’s leftover from the previous restaurant that was here before.
The price is fair for an all you can eat restaurant.
Over all the restaurant is a good place to come and eat.

I thought the food here was delicious. Everything was hot and fresh . My absolute favorite was the shrimp . Well kept buffet . The employees were all very nice . Plenty of seating . I ate here twice while staying at the hotel next door.

So let me start off by saying the staff were super nice and welcoming the staff took time to make us all feel very welcome and even made sure my 3 year old daughter had a good experience. The food was really good for a Chinese buffet. The only reason for the 4 stars was some of the chicken was really chewy. Prices are honestly really decently priced! It ran about 15 per adult and 1.30 per year old your child is. I will definitely be taking the 40 min drive here again!

I was there last Sunday in the evening anxious to eat there given the week before was fantastic, however, this time much of the food was warm rather than hot temp and some foods tasted fine while others were ok. But it was clear that the food was no where near as good as the last time. I was a bit disappointed.
I got home in Snohomish and about 30 minutes after being home I did a No. 2, then lots of liquid came out and then some diarrhea. It was clearly because of the buffet since I didn’t have anything else after it. I took some Imodium to stop any further diarrhea and that worked, but was not feeling well, was overly tired for a few days, just really wiped out. I did part of the BRAT diet eating rice and applesauce and bread and got better as my butt and tummy healed.
This buffet is good sometimes and other times not so much. They need to be more consistent in food quality and keep the food warmer and fresher. I took notice this time that the food had been sitting too long in their pans. The vegetables were wilted, the crawdads tail meat was grey – you can’t eat it that way, some foods didn’t taste quite right. Most seafood was fine tho. But something either in the food in general or that it wasn’t hot or was old, or didn’t get replaced more often had lessened the quality enough to get me sick. I realize trashing less than hot or lower quality food sitting too long is costly but without newer fresher food – this is part of the problem.
The buffet has value tho if you get a time there when all is great, but I would be watchful and careful what you select to eat … that if you get there and it’s clear the food is not meeting your expectations – that you immediately stop eating it rather than thinking it will get better. I did mention when paying the bill that it was good but not as good as last time. Given tho that I was sick when I got home …I won’t be returning till I see more reviews of improvement in food quality and consistency and far less if any more reports of people getting sick like I did.

Got recommended this place years ago by a former boss and randomly went this evening, oh man the food is so good for a buffet- nothing seemed like it was out of rotation, everything was cooked perfectly.
10/10 coming here again whenever I’m going to my trips south of whatcom and north from Arlington.

This place is amazing for the following.
1. great value for what you can get nowadays.
2. flavourful food comparable to many Chinese restaurants.
3. many options like seafood, meat and vegetables and dessert!
while it is true that the ambience is not similar to a romantic dinning restaurant, those comments saying that the place is super dirty without any evidence are not fair. A true review should be objective with backup evidence.

I am a regular for many years. I live in Canada (Vancouver), and still find it worthwhile to drive 2 hours every month just to eat there. I have tried the old Super Buffet, Wonderful Buffet, Four Season Buffet, none of them are appealing to me. That said, Royal Star still has room for improvement in terms of food and service.

Royal star buffet has a ton of variety and value that comes from the price. The selection is broad with a ton of Chinese American options with a ton of seafood. There is also a very fresh salad bar as well as sushi and deserts. The buffet is very roomy, and the employees make the dining experience very enjoyable and are fun to talk to. Great and affordable all you can eat for the family. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

They have a lot of different options and I love the Mongolian Grill! The only problem is we gone a couple times after a hot day and it was too warm inside, so I was uncomfortable. I love the seafood options and plenty of different desserts. The American food isn’t very good but who goes to a Chinese buffet for American food?

Quite impressed with the variety of choices this buffet has! You can find everything including seafood, meat, veggies, fruits, desserts, sushi, soup, salads. They even had a stirfry bar where you select your ingredients and a chef stir fried it right in front of you. The price is very affordable as well (only $10.99 for lunch and $18.99 for dinner, or $6.99 for a box of takeout). The service was also very good, each section of tables had a waiter who is very attentive in clearing your used dishes and refilling your drinks. Left feeling very full, only wish I had a larger stomach so I could’ve tried more dishes.
