I’ve had the pulled pork nachos – they are a LOT!! Good & large dish & heavier than this fresh bowl (obviously, perhaps )
Classic, well-priced, and excellent rum drinks.
We will go back for sure on that alone!
Our waitress and the hostess were both very nice.
Also, the food coming out of the kitchen looked delicious. We may have to head back to Southport to try the food menu. *Simply had made other plans already*
The Royal James Rummery
All I can say is WOW!
Not only do they have a huge selection of Tequila and Rum the food is incredible.
Visitors if your looking for a super cool spot for a great drink and learn some Southport history this is your place.
If you’re a local you’ll see some familiar faces.
Stop in and say hello to the bartenders Asa, Lizzy or Riley. The margaritas and dark and stormy were perfect.
The bartender or waitress (I’m not sure which, as she didn’t introduce herself; she had brown wavy hair and a nose piercing) asked what we wanted, and I told her we saw the cocktails-to-go sign. Right away, she caught an attitude, telling us that “what we do outside her bar is our responsibility,” as if it were our first time drinking. She also said we all had to be 21, even though we are all 22 years old or older, as if we didn’t know the drinking age in the United States.
It would have been one thing if this had been explained kindly, or if we had come in being disrespectful or causing a scene—but we didn’t. Her attitude and demeanor toward us were rude. She made it seem like she was irritated to have us as a table, even though we arrived around 5:45, well before closing.
To make matters worse, as we were leaving, the hostess was laughing, which felt extremely unprofessional and disrespectful.
Unfortunately, we had a bad experience. Maybe we just got stuck with a nasty waitress or bartender who happened to ruin our time, but we will not recommend this place to anyone, and we will not be back.
