We recently visited this new Hidden gem in kitchener Huron area and must say that we absolutely loved their food, we ordered thalis at Royal Gourmet Kitchener – they were huge, and the food was incredibly fresh!

The highlight for me was the saag, which instantly reminded me of back home. When I asked, they mentioned that they make it fresh, not from preserved containers, and you can truly taste the difference.

Another standout was their Gajrella and kheer, which took me straight back to my childhood – it tasted just like the one my mom used to make.

The ambience is amazing, warm, and welcoming. The staff greets you with a smile, serves with genuine care, and makes the whole dining experience even more enjoyable.

This place has quickly become our go-to spot for authentic Punjabi food. They truly serve the best Punjabi cuisine in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. Highly recommended – everyone should give it a try!

Extremely disappointing experience at Royal Gourmet. We were seated for 20 minutes before anyone even came to take our order—on a Sunday night dinner, no less. It was obvious they were very short-staffed, and the service was practically nonexistent.

To make matters worse, the carrot pudding (gajar ka halwa) smelled off and tasted stale and unpleasant. Definitely not what you’d expect from a place calling itself “gourmet.” Wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for decent service or fresh food.

I recently ordered a lassi along with makki di roti and saag through Uber Eats. While the food tasted good, I was really disappointed with the way the drink was packaged. The lassi arrived in a plastic takeout cup without any seal, cover, or sticker, and the straw was already inserted. The delivery driver was holding the cup directly, which made the drink feel very unhygienic.
Because the cup wasn’t sealed in any way, I didn’t feel comfortable drinking it. For safety and cleanliness, I strongly suggest adding sealed lids or tamper-proof packaging for drinks. The food was nice, but the packaging definitely needs improvement.

I have done takeout several times and dine in twice. Food is average. Most of paneer curries taste same because of same base gravy. Panner tikka with medium spicy is good and shahi paneer is on sweeter side (for change of taste). Chicken and mutton is okish. Roti is okay but naan are too soft and thick, can improve on that to make it crispier. Price is good for quantity provided. Costs around 25 bucks for two. Also if you dine in the quantity would be less and price would be more. They charge for large container for dine in but surely the quantity is very less compared to take out.

Recently visited the new location of the RGI with the family,
We ordered the Veg Thali ($12.99) , Chole Puri and Garlic Naan.

Food: Quality was execusite and Quantity, more than one can ask for.

Hospitality: The team there was top-notch, pleasant. They were regularly checking on the orders and any requirements from us.

Ambience : A cute little Fine-Dine like spot near Huron and Ayr neighbourhoods.

We will definitely visit again.

Absolutely loved it! We stuck with the basics veggie pakora, mango lassis, butter chicken, shahi paneer, and garlic naan. Everything was well executed, and tasted great.

The meat/paneer to gravy ratio was much more reasonable than other places in the region. And the portion sizes are great for the price.

The whole restaurant is thoughtfully decorated, and looks incredible.

The staff were very friendly and did a great job of maintaining the pace of service with all of the tables full and lots of people coming in for take out.

I will for sure be coming back and would highly recommend this spot for dine in or take out. Happy to have found such a great restaurant in a category that has been majorly lacking in the area.

✨ Overall recommendation – Definitely try!
We absolutely loved this newly opened spot for authentic North Indian food. We took a vegetarian thali take-out dinner few days ago and returned for their non-vegetarian thali for dine-in lunch. Both the thalis were equally delicious.
✨ Food – We ordered these flavorful meals.
️ Vegetarian Thali – It had rice, chole, dal makhni, kadhi, raita, gajar ka halwa and naan. The dal makhni was okay and the rest of the thali was extremely tasty. I have to give special mention to the kadhi in this thali. The gajar ka halwa was added to the thali only for the initial opening of the restaurant. It’s taste was wholesome.
Jalebi – Sweet, indulgent, and oh so satisfying.
️ Non Vegetarian Thali – It had rice and naan as the common item. Curry options to choose from were mutton, butter chicken, chole, mattar-paneer, paneer kadhai, eggplant-potato, dal makni. We could choose 3 curries each for our thalis. These thalis also did not disappoint us at all. The mutton curry was balanced in taste and spices while the butter chicken was dipped in a creamy gravy
Masala Soda – Refreshing and full of flavor.
✨ Ambience – The atmosphere here is beautiful, with natural light pouring in. The interior aesthetics showcases Indian art style gracefully. It’s a great place to enjoy Indian food, especially North Indian cuisine. The staff is friendly and prompt, making you feel comfortable.
