Royal Gorge Creamery is my families go to ice cream spot in Canon City! Not only is the atmosphere great, but the owner is so nice and always super friendly! My son especially loves that they have mini cones so he can enjoy an ice cream that’s just his size. I would highly recommend coming in and getting a scoop or two of ice cream if you’re out walking Main Street ☺️

The last time I went here with my husband we had a not so great experience. I was hoping to give this place another shot when some friends told us they were going to grab ice cream here. Bad idea.
Young blond lady was working all alone on Sunday evening, and as we came in, she very rudely asked us to not step on piles she had swept around. My friend and I kindly asked if they were closing early (the door said 8, and we were in at 6). She said, “no, we close at 8. But if I don’t start sweeping now and mop the floors, I get the dinner rush, and then I have school in the morning. I don’t want to be here later than I need to be.”
It was really off putting. If my husband hadn’t already ordered, I considered leaving.
She also had her hair down and dipping into the ice cream as she scooped.
The fact that the management decided to respond to this review by defending this employee makes it even worse. Yes, her hair was in a pony tail, but it was still dragging into the ice cream. She may have used a quiet voice asking for us to not step in her swept piles, but it was rude nonetheless. I suppose this will be a small business in Canon that I will not be bringing my money again.
