Went in this evening (like 7:30PM, not right at closing) to get a spicy chicken sandwich meal. I specifically asked the cashier if I could get the chicken patty fresh and said I didn’t mind waiting, and I said “because usually since no one orders them they sit in the warmer all day.” She turned around and went and asked the food preparer (they were speaking in Spanish which I don’t mind at all but essentially I didn’t hear the conversation like if the preparer said “yeah its still fresh”). Anyways, I guess it’s the customer’s fault for not asking for the fries fresh as well. When I got home I could immediately tell the fries were dried up, old, and distinguishing. I was hungry so I just ate them but I took a photo of the leftovers that I couldn’t eat for fear of chipping a tooth. I thought the chicken patty was fresh, until I took a bite. She just made it look pretty. I thought it was really skimpy, almost petty (because i asked for it fresh) that the patty looked 2/3 the size of the already small sandwich bun. After I took the first bite, I realized it was not only that but the patty must have shrank because (low and behold) it was actually an old patty that had been sitting in the warmer. The patty was completely tough and dried out. This was just totally insulting since I told them I’d wait, and they added insult to injury after the disappointing fries. I really thought it was weird that I didnt have to wait more than 5 mins. Anyways I left the same review like years 5 years ago, and also on their company website. Not at all worth $13.03. I’ll never forget the bold response I received when I asked a manager at another location a long time ago why they don’t make value menu sandwiches for a few dollars. Their response (like a trained response) was “we only make high quality fast food.” The concept of this place is good, but they obviously do not have the capacity to hire staff who actually care to do their job, like let’s say, Chik’ Fil a or Burger King. I was the only customer in the store (with the exception of one person already sitting down eating) and they couldn’t give me the time of day to make half decent meal. A $1-$2 chicken sandwich from McDonalds would have tasted 3 times better than this mediocre meal. If I had used a coupon and gotten a small chicken sandwich, a large fry, and a large drink, it would have cost me about $6 there. It’s not worth my hard earned money. Every single time i walk into this restaurant I have a feeling in the pit of my stomach that I’m gambling on a 50/50 chance that it will be worth it, so I’m done with this place.

Excellent service and food, but terrible location and crowd. The bus stop immediately across the road is one of the worst spots in the County for crime and violence, and general sketchiness. Several of that crowd were at this Roy Rogers just now.

When I arrived around 10:30 a mentally unwell woman in pink pajamas was wandering around the booths inside and staring at myself and another patron before leaving. Simultaneously, an older Spanish-speaking gentleman was having a telephone call, filming around the inside and the cars in the parking lot from inside, and then proceeded to exit and meander around the parking lot, including walking into the paths of oncoming vehicles. The staff did nothing to stop either individual.

A group of three disheveled and disreputable looking locals then entered and immediately demanded the codes for the mens and women’s restrooms, which the clerk immediately provided. I no longer doubt the rumors of drug use in the place.

The other individual seemed to recognize one nearby patron at a table, and was seemingly evaluating the immediate situation. I’m grateful that my takeout then came up, and didn’t waste any time in leaving.

The immediate area has a well deserved bad reputation, and it’s a shame that the staff do not restrict restroom access to paying customers. Given the location, there really should also be a security guard or more regular Police patrols of the area. The 3 staff seemed used to such unwell and off locals, which says a lot about the typical crowd in the place.

I recommend avoiding this location because of type people they’re allowing to loiter and use their facilities. Nobody should have to worry about safety just to get a quick meal.

Tonight, I ordered our usual order (burger, fries, roast beef, and side of pickles) plus a brownie on whim.

Positives: drinks were good, mashed potatoes were tasty, burger was fine

Negatives: fries weren’t crispy, roast beef was very fatty and dry, pickles tasted weird – almost like they were old, and I just realized my brownie was not put in the bag. I had to ask for my drinks and I was never given a receipt, so I can’t even go back for the brownie.

Very disappointed and not the usual quality at all. Not sure what happened tonight.

My family recently moved to Gaithersburg, so I thought I’d give this location a first try. Before though, we lived closer to a different location so I always went there. So I came in toward the end of the day, it was pretty quiet. No customers in line. The staff were pretty lax, and just trying to clean up for the end of the night. They were kind of quiet, but friendly-ish (obviously tired, I understand). I ordered 2 sandwiches, a large fry, and a drink.

I’ll start with the large fry: Room temperature, no salt, dry, overcooked, obviously sitting out for a while since there was no traffic. A few were so crunchy that they kind of remind you of those French’s shoe string fries: super crunchy all the way through. It’s like they got tossed back in to a toaster oven, twice. Those fries are like $4, and I received it basically 3/4 of the way full. See picture attached. I added whatever bottom bag fries were in there, so that’s everything. Also, a word of advice. When you’re waiting on 2 sandwiches, don’t go grab the french fry, and then go stand around at the sandwich window for 4 minutes waiting for the sanwiches while the fries sit in the bag getting cold.

Moving on to the spicy chicken sandwich: I looked at it, and it actually looked pretty tasty, well breaded. I thought it made up for the french fries. I took a bite into it, and pretty much every bite I took out of it had stringy bits that I had to keep separating. Possibly thawed and refrozen? Or not cooked properly? Who knows. So the sandwich was a bust.

Moving on to the double 1/4 with cheese burger: I thought it was pretty hard to mess that up, but I was wrong. Not really any seasoning (I think they just toss salt on, I’ve been to a different location and they usually have a tiny bit more taste). The entire burger also had a sort of icky metallic aftertaste. To be honest, I wasn’t sure if it was a bloody taste from the meat, or a metallic taste. The burger looked thoroughly cooked through. My family member suggested that maybe the grill wasn’t clean so it was probably metallic.

Other things: they only had a single fixing cup left, and usually I’ve gotten 3 during the covid era because they usually only put a single tomato slice in each. I’m used to getting the fixings myself. This particular issue was the least of the issues of course. I wasn’t thrilled, but I understood it was the end of the day, and I know they probably have someone make them early in the morning before refrigerating them.

So this trip was a total bust. Not a great first time to this location. I keep going back and forth on whether I should give them the benefit of the doubt and just come back in the daytime. From my experience the last few hours of the night are when the quality tends to dwindle or becomes inconsistent at all locations. But really, it gets pretty tiring spending $16 and every time having to take a gamble on the quality of my “High Quality Fast Food” as management used to put it. I asked them in the past why they never made dollar burgers like other competitors, and that was the response they gave me. “We only make high quality fast food.”

During my recent visit to Roy Rogers, I placed an order for an Egg Palter 9ish around While the service at first seemed fine, the experience quickly turned unacceptable. As I sat down, I overheard Maribel, the manager, loudly yelling at her employees in front of customers. This behavior is degrading, unprofessional, and completely inappropriate for someone in a management position. No employee should be treated in that manner, and no customer should be forced to witness it.

In addition, there are ongoing and extremely concerning issues with the restrooms at this location. On multiple visits, I have seen drug addicts and intoxicated individuals gaining access to the bathrooms, harassing employees, cursing at them, and creating an unsafe environment. Employees should not be placed in danger by having to constantly hand out restroom codes to anyone who asks.

One incident in particular highlights how unsafe this has become: my wife entered the women’s restroom with our children, only to find two women at the sink drinking alcohol, bathing, and doing their makeup inside the restaurant bathroom. This is not only unprofessional and unsafe but reflects very poorly on management for allowing such conditions to persist.

Looking for some really good Old Fashion Fried Chicken? Try a hot off the fryer piece of Roy Rogers chicken and your taste buds will be craving for more. The number 11 (3 piece meal) did it for me. Don’t forget to ask for the senior citizen and military discount. The price is just right and don’t forget the salad bar with all your fixings.

Brought my son for the Roy Rogers experience. Fixing bar was empty. Someone laid out asleep in a booth. No salt and pepper on the table. It was so bad.

On a whim because I’ve never eaten chicken at a Roy Rogers and haven’t gone in decades, my wife and I ordered a 3 piece chicken with three biscuits. The biscuits were very good and the chicken was seasoned well and juicy (I ate the breast). Not the best fried chicken that I’ve had but not bad for the price. With that said, I wouldn’t order fried chicken here again.

Came in at 8pm and was told they won’t be making any more chicken so I couldn’t place my order…they close in two hours at 10pm. Why stay open then? Close if you don’t want to serve people.
