This place has been on my bucket list since Padma Lakshmi recommended it. The sandwich was great and the fries were arguably better. I had the spicy sandwich with dark meat.
One disappointing thing I heard from the guy over the counter was that they were closing all physical locations and moving to online ordering only.
As someone who loves the city and loves physical locations, especially eating at physical locations, I hope they reconsider.

Came last minute, felt horrible but still served us. Got a grilled chicken salad. I asked for no rice, no cheese, and sauce on the side. The chicken seemed undercooked to me but still good. Like the last bites of chicken did. Also got tenders and a sandwich. The Hakka chill def is spicy. Overall food good and fresh.

Come hungry – the sandwich is huge! After eating this sandwich – it just seems so obvious – that a fried chicken sandwich with Indian flavors would be amazing. I got the hot chicken sandwich – it’s gigantic with the the right amount of heat. The chef is a genius – switching out mayo and pickles for mint chutney and red onions – bro, chefs kiss!! The Hakka chili dip – spicy and powerful flavor – good for both dipping fries and the sandwich in. It has a tang that reminds me of Indian Achar (pickle). Also glad I got the spiced fries- they have a nice masala flavor. Will be back soon with the family!

I am sorry the chicken sandwich didn’t stand out for me. Nothing compared to the Koreans in the nearby Korea town! At $15 a bit overpriced. Chic fa-lay is similar minus the Indian sauce, but for $15 will include a tasty milkshake!

Trendy Indian fried chicken shop with colorful decor and fun music. The staff are nice but not very clear about spice levels or portions. I ordered the fried chicken bowl ($14) with mild spice level to be on the safe side and an extra chicken piece (+$3). Compared to the medium it tasted under-seasoned and had no heat. In addition, my bowl with extra chicken looked the same as a regular portion. I would recommend ordering medium or above if you can handle some spice. The location near Penn Station is convenient, though for the price there’s plenty of other options in the vicinity.

I was visiting NYC and, after walking for hours, I was starving and looking for something good to eat when this place caught my eye. I love Indian food and chicken sandwiches and Rowdy Rooster combines the two perfectly! Their Indian-style fried chicken sandwich did not disappoint. It was a home run. I highly recommend it!

Even when Rowdy Rooster (EV, RIP) isn’t as good as it used to be (RIP, Masala Fries!!! BRING BACK THE BROWNIES!!! They’re almost always out of lemonade) or is inconsistent (sometimes the chicken has a freezer-burnt texture, the flavor is still awesome, the value is still better than most similar places, and the customer service is nice & tolerant (they leave you alone and don’t judge you when you order the Ghost Pepper then constantly sneeze & weep & wash your hands…), I’ll be a regular… the Vada Pov this weekend was nowhere near crispy enough, and they forgot to give us mint chutney for our samosas (which are small, should come four to an order), but this is just me fine-tuning what COULD BE perfection.

We went in pretty late in the night and this place was still open with a good number of patrons. We tried the vada pav which was very good and the mango lassi which was exceptional. While we didn’t try it, they have a lot of options such as bowls and burgers.
The vibe is fun and upbeat and the service is prompt and friendly. The place was very clean. This is very close to Penn station so excellent after a show at MSG or similar.
Overall this restaurant checked a lot of our boxes with good food and good vibe. Would recommend.

Great spot! Delicious fried chicken, complex flavours in their bowls, their fire rub was fire. Wasn’t too spicy but still very flavourful. Very nice vibe, love the decor would recommend 8/10.

Fast food joint serving a very good hot chicken sandwich. I went with the fire which has medium to hot spice level. The flavor is heavy on paprika and cayenne just like Nashville hot but with garam masala I think.
My favorite is really the fries, the spicy fries are so good. They have a tandoor spice and great texture between the crunch and the moist fries. So get the spicy fries!!
The samosas are ok, get it if you have a craving, but get the spicy fries!!
