Absolutely phenomenal. Roux 25 in Folsom is a true hidden gem, blending big-city culinary creativity with the warmth of small-town Louisiana. The food is bold, fresh, and unforgettable — every dish feels like a chef’s love letter to the South. Don’t miss the duck fat fries (seriously, life-changing), and if the soft shell crab entrée is on the menu, just say yes — it’s perfectly crisp, flavorful, and elegantly plated. Cocktails are crafted with care, and the service strikes that rare balance of professional and personal. With its rustic-meets-refined atmosphere, Roux 25 is 100% worth the trip — and then some.

A few friends and I went to eat. The food was great the service was ok. All of us finished our waters and were not asked to refill. The cocktails were great. The atmosphere is too loud. This is a small restaurant with a large bar in the dining area and if you want to go for a quiet dinner or converse with those you are eating with, go somewhere else.
They need to expand to accommodate those who want to go just for the drinks.

There are restaurants you eat at, and then there are restaurants that change you. The Roux 25 in Folsom belongs to the latter category. I don’t say that lightly — this little spot has genuinely touched me and my family in ways I didn’t think a restaurant ever could.

From the moment you walk through the door, you feel it — something different in the air. It’s warm, welcoming, and deeply personal. The staff doesn’t just serve food; they serve care, attention, and authenticity. Every plate feels like it was made by someone who genuinely loves what they do. The cocktails? Flawless. Balanced, creative, and crafted with a precision that would make a New Orleans mixologist proud.

And the food — my God, the food. It’s Southern comfort elevated to something almost spiritual. The kind of dishes that make you stop mid-bite just to savor the moment. You can taste the pride, the patience, and the heart that go into every single recipe. It’s not just dinner — it’s a reminder of what it means to sit with people you love and share something beautiful.

We’ve celebrated birthdays here, quiet weeknights, and big family milestones. Somehow, The Roux 25 has woven itself into the story of our family. The owners and staff treat us not like customers, but like kin. And every time we leave, we do so feeling fuller — not just from the meal, but from the experience itself.

I never expected a small restaurant in Folsom to have such an impact on my life, but it has. The Roux 25 has made me appreciate good food, good people, and good moments in a whole new way. If you’ve never been — go. Go hungry, go open-hearted, and let this place remind you what true hospitality feels like.

The Roux 25 didn’t just serve us dinner. It gave us memories. It gave us connection. It changed us for the better. When the boys from the Tchefuncte come to town , hit the brooks and Dunn , throw the duck fat in the pan , and get the cocktails ready. The boys are back in town.

It was a Friday and the sun had settled in the Western sky. My party and I were unsettled, nourishment was needed. When low, there she stood, the Roux, appearing as an oasis amongst the equestrian planes. We ate like kings that night, crepes, steaks, and duck fat fries, it was glorious.

We’ve returned often and experienced the same blissful love on each occasion. This Tchefuncte gem is worth your travels. Bear off the beaten interstate to experience life as it was meant to be lived.

This is a small venue restaurant, it only has 10 or 11 tables. But the service was excellent and the food was well beyond excellent. I had the Herb roasted chicken with garlic mashed potatoes, and my wife had the filet mignon. For an appetiser we had Pistachio encrusted Goat cheese salad and garlic and Herb French fries cooked in duck fat. I had a question about the fries but believe me they are excellent. And the 3rd course was desert. Between my wife’s Creme brulee and my chocolate stuffed cake it was an excellent experience.
