Take a step back in time! Love how this restaurant has that old 50s diner vibe. We appreciated the large portions, quick service, and reasonable prices. My husband tried Carne Adovada for the first time and he loved it! I had my typical breakfast burrito Christmas style. Fun road trip stop. You don’t be disappointed.

Route 66 Diner
This place is like a trip back in time to a 50s diner you would expect in Happy Days.
I ordered chorizo eggs, hash browns and refried beans. Perfectly seasoned and piping hot.
My wife ordered two eggs over easy, hash browns and bacon. Cooked perfectly to order.
We were seated quickly and the service was fast. The waitress was one that everyone hopes to get. Polite, came by to refill our drinks without having to be flagged down, made sure everything was just as we had hoped, but also not a hovering waitress.
The grand finally was when we ordered our dessert. We are both big fans of a properly cooked sopapilla. So, we each ordered one with a side of honey. They were huge and perfectly cooked. What was surprising was that you could also order them as your main course, stuffed with chicken, beef, shredded beef, carne adovada, or carne asada! Maybe next time!
One of the best places in town to visit for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Great little gem of a diner right on Route 66 with standard choices like burgers, salads, & wraps, or for a taste of Mexican food: enchiladas, chili relleno, tamales, tacos, and even menudo. The staff is very friendly, and although there is a bit of a wait for food, it’s worth it as it’s cooked with pride. Complementary chips and salsa are offered while you wait!

I was excited to try it, but unfortunately was pretty disappointed. the burrito I got had some sort of mystery meat that was supposed to be steak but didn’t taste anything like steak. plus it was in giant 1 inch cubes which made it very difficult to eat

I will give a fair review in good faith! Everytime I eat at Route 66 Diner, I am greeted so welcomingly. The food is delicious and made to my preferences. It is pricey however it is worth every pretty penny I spend. The owner is very charismatic that he greets me when I do eat there as if I’ve known him for a long time – I appreciate it because it’s not just business but a great place to dine at after a long day and feel at home. Thank you Route 66 Diner! The food and service is why I keep coming back. And I highly recommend to locals, visitors, and tourists. I wish I took a picture of my food but I always eat before I can acknowledge the positive worth of delicious takeout. One day I look forward to dining in.

This place was amazing in every way. I thought I was stopping in at a historic Route 66 burger joint and was blown away by the unique Mexican food. The staff was friendly and I enjoyed conversing with all of them. I dine alone a lot and this establishment made me feel like I was among friends. I will definitely return next time I am in Gallup.
