I wanted some good southern home cooking for lunch and this was the perfect find. The biscuits and gravy were out of this world and I can’t recommend them enough. The chicken dumplings were savory peppery and thick. Mac and cheese that’s Tennessee Vols orange but so yummy (Velveeta maybe?) Fried okra that’s crispy and not greasy along with fried green tomatoes. We got some chilli on the side that is stick to the ribs chili dog topping style and will warm you no matter how cold it is outside. Finally sweet tea so sweet you could put it on your pancakes. I hear the pancakes are really good too. Breakfast is served all day, and they have daily specials as well. Order at the counter and don’t forget ice cream off to the side. Booths and tables to sit at with tons of memorable on the walls to catch the eye. Food came out quickly, hot and overall at a good price. They have pretty good hours too. Plenty of parking as well. Totally chuffed we found this spot and absolutely will come back.

We were hungry and looking for a place to eat prior to hiking in Ijams Nature Preserve and this restaurant was not far from the preserve. We didn’t expect much from looking at the outside of the restaurant, but once we tried the food we were exceptionally pleased with our choice to eat here.
Great home cooking at very reasonable rates. My wife had the fried catfish and said it was extremely fresh tasting and some of best catfish she has eaten. I had the homemade turkey with mashed potatoes and dressing with a side of homemade banana pudding. The turkey was real and not the usual processed turkey breast that I have encountered from other restaurants that serve turkey. The mashed potatoes were also real and not processed and were extremely tasty especially with the gravy on them. The desserts were very reasonably priced with slices of cheesecake including turtle cheesecake costing just $2.79
Sadly we were too full from eating our dinner to have room for dessert but the desserts looked good.
Overall we were very pleased with the quality of the food and we would definitely make this a regular stop if we lived in the area.

This place has absolutely the best country style home-cooked meals “soul food” that is available these days! I had the steak and gravy, mashed potatoes, pinto beans (w/onion and mayonnaise on the side), a cornbread muffin, and a glass of water and it was all amazing (as usual)! The staff here are super friendly and are swift at putting together whatever you order and the drinks are self serve all u want. It is a country themed environment with an open kitchen to see all the kitchen services as they work. The price is about $10-$12 a person with 1 main course and 2 sides of the dozen they offer and a drink.

It is exactly what you should expect from a proper old school grill. Everything is made when ordered and prepared fresh. If you love a this kind of food then this place is for you. Both wife and I got cheese burgers, I got a could and got what I paid for. Great burgers hit the spot. We will be back to try other great looking menu items.

Since moving to South Knox, I come here at least once a week. I absolutely love this place! It’s true that their prices have gone up, but that is the case in EVERY RESTAURANT in town.
I get everything from breakfast biscuits to bacon cheeseburgers to dinners (I especially love their veggies), and daily specials (don’t forget Pot Roast on Tuesdays!)
Can’t recommend this lovely place enough! Easy 5 stars

Wish I could put no stars. Rude employees who will scream at you for parking in the parking lot. Even if you plan to come in and give them your money? Very weird atmosphere. Literally didn’t even make it inside.

Nice little diner. Pancakes are great! Country ham was good too. Very large portions of food. Bring your appetite! They have some interesting Knoxville memorabilia on the walls. Including some autographed photos of Johnny Knoxville.

Ok this was a great find. Will definitely be back. Authentic southern breakfast, just like mom made. And if your mom didn’t cook like, I’m sorry.. jk
The Roundup Breakfast, 3 perfectly cooked eggs, bacon, sausage, and breakfast fries (aka: Fried potatoes). Pancakes are home style, a little overcooked, but really good.
Bacon could have been softer, but my wife likes it crunchy. Sacrifices LOL The sausage is ok, I like mine a little spicier.
Pros: Great food, friendly staff, great prices.
Cons: Limited seating, very busy, clutter.
