Indian food has always ranked high on my list of favorite cuisines, and I just touched down in Oakland a few hours ago! While my husband is off getting a haircut next door, I couldn’t help but notice this delightful Indian restaurant right beside the barbershop. Talk about perfect timing—I was absolutely famished with a capital “F”!
The best part? It was a buffet-style setup! No need to agonize over a menu; I could dive right in and sample a bite of everything they had to offer. And let me tell you, I went all out! The naan bread was simply divine—hot, fresh, and utterly perfect.
After indulging in such a feast, I treated myself to a soothing cup of hot tea, savoring the full experience. I even enjoyed my meal solo since my hubby was still in the chair next door, and you know what? It was surprisingly nice to take a moment for myself. The staff here are incredibly kind and welcoming, making me feel right at home.
A big thank you for such wonderful food and service! I can’t recommend this place enough!

Recently switched ownership – now it’s called Roti Indian restaurant.
My friend and I went for an early dinner after a hike at Lake Chabot.
The restaurant was very clean, neatly organized and decorated, with authentic music in the background.
Our server was very kind, helpful and made sure that we chose meals according to our dietary restrictions.
We shared 3 vegan dishes with my friend and absolutely loved all of them. My personal favorite was the spinach and mushroom dish, so creamy and perfectly flavored. They have a lunch buffet on certain days of the week. The owner walked up to us when we were leaving to ask us about our experience and to ensure that we were happy with everything. Will be back!

We were a party of 7 and were the only people dining the entire time. There is very little ambiance. The server was nice enough, but not very communicative. The food was generally good. The bread was thinner than expected. I loved the Flying Horse beer.

Excellently crafted dishes. The sauces were stupendous and the sautéed vegetables we had were perfectly cooked with a little bit of high heat browning to bring out the flavor, but not cooked so much the vegetable loose texture. Service was good and they are very conscious about spreading guests out within the restaurant.

Flavorful Indian cuisine. Top notch service and attention to detail. I asked for my chickpea curry to be spicy and they really followed through on the spice! I was not disappointed. The rice is nice and soft. The chicken is tender and grilled to perfection. The mango drink is the best companion for a spicy dish — quite refreshing.

Update: 10/8/22: Got in at 8:55 pm, Google says they close at 10 pm. We were told they close at 9:30 pm. I asked if that meant they wanted us to leave. He stood and stared at me for a minute, ymthen said no and seated us. Don’t feel very welcome. that is a shame. I like this place generally. It is my partners favorite. She thinks they thought we wefe homeless because she always carries her hug backpack everywhere. We shall see if we get pushed out quickly. This crew of Indian cuisine dedicants knows how to present, create ambiance, produce substantial, tasty, and enjoyable fare at a very reasonable price! Without a doubt, this restaurant should be on your “to do list”. I am saying this without any pay, just the enjoyment of sharing, and an occasional $4 off pizza coupon from Google meaning 1.

It’s always a treat to come here. The food is great and the atmosphere is intimate. I personally really enjoy the woman who runs the place, she is authentically herself and cooks food that is authentic as well! The food is rich, flavorful, and seasoning is not overdone. Not too salty, nor is it bland. Perfect if you have taste.
