The open fire adds a primal, magnetic energy to the space. You can feel it in the air — that subtle smokiness that makes every dish feel like it was created with care and heat. It sets the perfect backdrop for the food, which is nothing short of amazing. Each plate feels both familiar and surprising; like the chef has rummaged through his fondest food memories and then elevated them into something new.
What really stood out was how both the bar and food menus played this clever game with nostalgia and curiosity. There are names and flavors that make you pause; that make you think; but when they arrive, there’s always that comforting thread of something you’ve loved before. It’s a rare balance between innovation and sentiment.
In short, Rosy isn’t just a restaurant; it’s an experience. It’s the kind of place you linger a little longer than planned, just to soak up more of the energy — the crackling fire, the music wrapping around you, and the sense that every detail, from cocktails to shareable plates, has been created with a touch of heart and history.
We selected the lamb course for $50 per person, and we were a table of 5. However, we received exactly the same amount of food as a table of two, for both the appetizer and the main course. In the end we paid over twice the amount per person for the same meal. This is completely ridiculous; at $50 per person the food was a complete ripoff. This unfairness was continued in the dessert course: two of our party received over twice the amount of soft serve compared to the other three. Instead of sharing a meal and leaving happy, we were left fighting over the last scraps of food.
There were additional structural problems in the restaurant as well. The small plates menu was not posted anywhere online, and one of our party had food allergies that eliminated almost all of the small plates, locking us into the shared course. The setting was very crowded and noisy, and the bathrooms were located in a very busy and narrow hallway.
There were positives to our experience as well: the food was excellent, and the hosts and servers were very kind. But the fundamental issues at Rosy NEED to be fixed. I hope to see positive changes from Rosy in the future, but I will not be back.
I can’t wait to return (many times) bringing friends and family with me.
The food was creative and executed perfectly. The cocktails were wonderful and the wine list was well thought out.
The staff took everything the next level with fantastic service. I cannot wait to dine again!
We tried each of the four cocktails- our favorite was the negroni with mezcal and cynar, but Rosy thoughts was refreshing and not too sweet with pineapple, spiced rum and molasses.
Atmosphere is lively with communal tables and warm service. The close seating may be an introvert’s nightmare, but I’m no introvert. We arrived 15 minutes before opening and there was a decent line down the block by the time doors opened, so get there early or put your name down and stop at Larder or Verbena for a beverage while you wait. Despite how busy they were, the service was excellent, no doubt a testament to their lovely general manager Jer.
Bottom Line: Rosy is for those who find joy in tasty food and a lively atmosphere.
The tasting menu is awesome- the warm yogurt bread and sourdough served with 7 different rich dips and spreads; a shot of house-made Limoncello; the flavorful eggplant entree; and finished off with the delicious sourdough soft-serve.
Don’t cut yourself off there- grab a few ala carte items like the cabbage-wrapped savory beef pot pie, the hand-rolled pasta cooked over the open fire grill, the crunchy salad, and the spicy celery salad.
