The story of Rosie’s Italian Grille stems from a humble place – our beloved mother Rosie Barone’s kitchen. To some what would seem to be an ordinary kitchen was where Rosie’s famous recipes were perfected and brought to life. With a pinch of this and a dash of that, Rosie’s recipes created a family culture surrounded around authentic Italian cuisine. Established in 1981, Rosie’s Italian Grille has become a Toledo Secret nestled on the corner of N. McCord Rd. and Nebraska Ave.
Low-lit Tuscan with a picturesque patio, serving pasta, pizza & hearty meat & fish dishes.

We will be going back.
⭐⭐⭐⭐
The “fresh catch of the day” is offered in any of five different styles. I opted for Grouper,
“Cajun Key West”; cajun seasoning, citrus seared, with a salsa of pineapple, mango, and strawberry… an excellent choice. We also also did Manicotti plus meatballs (I’m told they were delicious), Fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp and chicken, Honey Goat Crispy Chicken, Fettuccine with grilled Chicken, and another fresh catch of the day as Halibut “Beurre Blanc”; sautéed with a white wine lemon butter caper sauce. We topped all that off with great desserts. Everyone was VERY happy with their choices in food as well as our choice in restaurants!
We’d gladly do it all again. VERY ENJOYABLE !! Thank you !!
If you are looking for a dining experience in Toledo that transcends the “standard” night out, look no further than Rosie’s Italian Grille. While the food is undeniably superb, our recent visit was elevated to a level of sophistication I haven’t seen outside of world-class establishments like The Whitney in downtown Detroit.
The reason? Sheldon.
The “Sheldon” Factor
From the moment he approached our table, the atmosphere shifted. Sheldon doesn’t just take orders; he curates an experience.
The Descriptions: He described each dish with such delicacy and vivid detail that we found ourselves wanting to order everything on the menu.
The Presence: He strikes that rare, perfect balance of being attentive enough to put you at ease while giving you the space to enjoy your conversation.
The Secret Off-Menu Must-Have
Perhaps the highlight of the night was when Sheldon described a dish that wasn’t even on the menu. I’m not going to ruin the description for you—you truly have to hear it from the man himself—but I didn’t hesitate to order it. Its name? “The Sheldon.” It was easily the star of a very crowded, delicious table.
Navigating the “Impossible” Wine Pairing
Normally, we stick to a glass or two, but Sheldon’s expertise made us feel like we were in the middle of a once-in-a-lifetime culinary event. I set him a nearly impossible task: find one bottle of wine to pair with a table full of “The Sheldon,” lamb chops, seafood, and pasta.
He didn’t blink. He simply said he would “take care of it,” and he absolutely delivered. While the wine was a soulmate to the lamb chops, it maintained a beautiful balance that complemented the lighter seafood and pasta dishes perfectly.
The Verdict
The food at Rosie’s is exquisite—each dish arrived exactly as Sheldon described—but the service is what made the evening unforgettable.
Plan Your Visit: If you want the full experience, plan carefully. Sheldon is off on Wednesdays and Sundays. Ask for him by name and ask about his namesake dish; you won’t regret it.
