We were in the East Village and looking for a place to have drinks and dinner. We stumbled upon Rosie’s on 2nd Ave. What a fun time! Place was hopping (at 2pm on a Sunday!) It was a nice day so all the outdoor tables were taken but their glass doors were all open. Modern interior with colorful decorative touches was bright and cheery. They make a great margarita (I recommend Rosie’s margarita – mezcal, tequila, dry curacao & serrano lime). Alex was a delight as our server.
I ordered the huevos tirados from the brunch menu (scrambled eggs, black beans, salsa, queso fresco & tortillas) that were amazingly fresh and delicious. As an appetizer, the pechuga rostizada (grilled chicken breast with avocado, tomatillo salsa) was super tender. We finished with the Mexican sundae (mini churros, caramel gelato, chocolate sauce) that capped off a wonderful, fun casual meal.

Went here on a cold Saturday night after seeing Pozole Verde on the menu which is very difficult to find in NYC. Had reservations so was seated very quickly despite it being quite busy. We had a round of cocktails which were all very tasty and ordered a few items to share and each got our own individual green pozoles.

The Pozole Verde was good but thought there was a bit too much star anise flavoring and not enough cilantro and jalapeño/serrano peppers (I was hoping for a bit of a spicy kick). The tlayuda was the other highlight which people descrive as a Mexican pizza where a tortilla is the dough. Overall, really enjoyed the meal here and would definitely come back to try other menu items.

This place is always packed on Friday and Saturday evenings. We tried a several dishes here: guac and chips, quesadillas, taquitos, enchiladas, gelato, and churros. Pretty disappointed at the flavor of the dishes. The only good ones were the quesadillas and the churros.

However, the margs here were delicious. The coco loco (coconut and banana) was a great balance of sweetness and bite. Go to this restaurant for the drinks, not the food.

I came for dinner and had an amazing time! I ordered the enchiladas suizas, not spicy at all and portion was fare, I had the guacamole with salsa and chips too, very good as well. And for drinks I had the guava paloma. It was really good too! Place is kind of big,so perfect for big parties and they have in the middle this nice tortilla maker.

My friend and I loved it here. The food and the drinks were great, also not too expensive. Miguel, our waiter, was so kind and helpful. I had a taco al pastor and a small soup, called “pozole verde”. Perfect for this cold, rainy winter day! I had a delicious classic margarita too. My friend had a quesadilla de calabaza which she said was delicious, and a glass of red wine. This is real Mexican food, just not as highly spiced, says Miguel. Mexican food like I have never eaten in a “Mexican” restaurant. This place is definitely worth coming too.

Alex made an already great experience better. Food was delicious and fresh, tortillas hand rolled, juices squeezed in the back. Awesome!

Went on a busy night when NYU was in session. Lively and fun vibe. Good food and reasonable prices (for New York)

The storefronts open to patio/sidewalk tables which might have been better for us that visit as we were trying to catch up with old friends.

Warm and kind staff across the board. Great food, creative drinks and generously fair portions/prices for the city. They had Lengua tacos as a special, best I’ve had. Our server Rosie went out of their way to make the night special. Will return!

Intimate personalized service at the bar! Christian and Herme are truly the representation of what hospitality is!
Loved talking to Steven about the menu and their creativity for the drinks!
I can’t even pass by without having some chicharrones, queso fundido and chips!
No comments on their drinks….. because we’re speechless!

Me and friends were craving a marg for taquilla day. We were able to get a seat very easily here last min. The space is huge. Great indoor and outdoor seating. They make the tacos right in the middle of the room which is super cute and fun

However. The drinks were lacking. They didn’t taste strong at all and were expensive. I would have gotten more or a pitcher but were underwhelming. Which was sad

The food is a diff story. The tacos were perfect. The chips and salsa and quac were also amazing. Many places in nyc don’t do chips and salsa right. Rosie’s does

I would go back for the food. I would not go for the drinks
