Rosedale is tucked away in the charming Navarre Neighborhood, which sits between Lakeview and Mid-City. We are very near many local attractions and landmarks, such as City Park, New Orleans Museum of Art, Lafitte Greenway, and Bayou St. John. The Canal Street streetcar can get you here easily from downtown. No matter how you arrive, you’ll be served the freshest, locally sourced ingredients, tastily transformed, and served by our friendly, knowledgeable staff.
Laid-back stop for Southern fare paired with cocktails, beer & wine in former police station digs.

Excellent dishes and flavors, great service, in a quirky space (a converted police station). Highly recommend! And if you don’t have room for dessert, get it anyway. It’s worth it.

Loved Rosedale! The food and drinks were so delicious, and the staff were so kind during our visit. The building itself is super cool too, being in an old police station, and there is plenty of outdoor seating as well. Everything about this place is great!

This is an eclectic restaurant with great food and service. They have indoor , outdoor and bar seating. The vibe is very casual and welcoming. The chef came out and went to several tables asking how the food was. For me that shows their love for what they do and makes for a great experience. I have been wanting to come here to try the pimento cheese sandwich and didn’t know it was only on the lunch menu and not the dinner menu. They made it for me anyway which is above and beyond what they needed to do and truly appreciated. It was worth the wait. The bread was crunchy and golden brown and the cheese was delicious. Came with chips that were also very good. The fried cauliflower was totally unexpected. Crunchy on the outside cooked to perfection on the inside with a nice heat from the jelly and creamy relief from the sauce on the bottom. I would go back again just for this. The beet salad also very good. Refreshing and just the right amount of blue cheese that was in very small pieces so it added a great tang to every bite but was not overpowering the other flavors. The duck pastrami sandwich is also a must try and probably can’t find it anywhere else. I have to try grits when they are in any menu, these were very good, nicely seasoned and had a bite to them. The chocolate cream cheese turnover was rich but the best part was the flaky crunchy pastry. Lemon buttermilk cheesecake also a nice dessert. The tang of the lemon gives relief to an otherwise rich dessert and it was extremely creamy. I will definitely return to try several other options on the menu.

Yummy dishes..we enjoyed a variety. Delicious cocktails..recommend trying the nutty professor! Our starters were fried cauliflower, which was perfect! We also had the Taramasalata. It was a Greek fish roe dip served with tortilla chips. It was good and also flavored with lemon. The turtle soup was good and unique. We added the traditional sherry to our soup. It had delicate tiny spinach dumplings with a darker rich broth. Really good! Our group enjoyed the speciality fish, which was Drum. Other entrees enjoyed were the meatloaf sandwich, the hamburger, the fried chicken. All unique takes on these meals…no leftovers! Highly recommend this tiny restaurant in a cute little house. We will return!

Party of four at 7:00 pm tonight. Seated promptly, ordered drinks which arrived shortly thereafter. Sort of small menu which is no problem. Three had the meatloaf sandwich. They were all impressed with just how good they were. I ordered a chop salad which was super good. Main was the Gulf Fish option. VERY good! Generous portion of fish with wonderfully flavored accompanying items. This is a nice break from the normal fare. Will return.
One big negative, the roads remind me of what Berlin must have been like after D-Day. Get the city to do something about this minefield of a street.

Historical charm, but portions and pricing are a little off, as well as a few menu and comfort elements.
Rosedale nails the historic setting, and the service and atmosphere are excellent. Unfortunately, the pricing and portions feel like a hustle.
The “entrees” are closer to appetizers, forcing you to order extra sides just to feel satisfied. A telling example: the guacamole came with too few chips, and we were charged for six extra just to finish it—absurd nickel-and-diming.
The curry was lukewarm and bland, surprisingly weak for a Spicer kitchen. Drinks are also overpriced at $14 per glass or cocktail, especially given the small food portions.
Physical comfort is also an issue: the concrete floors in the front room amplify noise and are hard on both diners and staff. Adding luxury vinyl over the concrete would greatly improve comfort and acoustics. The wooden chairs are also uncomfortable and need cushions.
The bones of a great restaurant are here, and the staff is wonderful—but the value and comfort aren’t.

Lunch was delicious. The Biurbon Fried Chicken Thighs were sooooo light and delicious for being fried- the sauce is perfectly seasoned and the flavor goes great with the greens and the Mac and Cheese. The BBQ shrimp were also delicious from the one that I tried. Reservations are always recommended but some miss this gem hidden away.

If you want not only out of the ordinary, but extraordinary, make your holiday party dinner reservations at Rosedale. Last night was an amazing food experience. Susan Spicer is a renowned chef and the holiday menu she put together for last night’s event was incredible. The filet was perfection – I never knew meat could taste that succulent, rich yet hold a myriad of subtle flavors and that creamy filling! My colleague’s wife from Peru could not stop raving about the fish. The Gulf fish (drum) was sublime-firm yet flaky, cooked to perfection with unique combinations of seasoning: whether the sauce, crab topper, sweet potato and I believe Anaheim peppers – each subtly and distinctly delicious yet incredibly perfect together on the fork. I know it sounds too good to be true, and we’ve eaten at a lot of high end restaurants and in Europe and this holiday menu by Chef Spicer blew us away. The back room was perfect for an intimate gathering and the table was beautifully set and festive. You need to have your holiday party here!

We started with the chicken liver pâté, which was delicious. For entrees, the fried chicken was absolutely fabulous – crispy, juicy, and perfectly paired with the mac ‘n’ cheese, smothered greens, and that addictive Tabasco honey. Also tried the daily special, a meat dish with brussels sprouts and rice, which was equally well-executed. A couple of pre-dinner cocktails were also excellent. I’d happily order the fried chicken again in a heartbeat. Highly recommend Rosedale, and I’ll definitely be back!
