Today I got the peppery pork ball noodle soup. It’s one of the two soups available on Monday mornings. Always amazing. So delicious. So friendly. I only ate half of my soup and they filled a to go container half way up with broth to add my leftovers to. Amazing. You have to go early though. Try to get there by 10am. Soup for breakfast is my new favorite thing! Different soups everyday.

Limited menu that changes daily means they do their best to get the dishes right. Note that for the Red Curry you can get noodles instead of the baguette.

Rose VL is known for their excellent phō and warm atmosphere, and i can confirm this. The photo is nice but only tells part of the story. You really should try this place! This is my pick for best soup, not only just for Portland, but any restaurant I have been to, ever! Thank you!

Incredibly delicious soups at this small restaurant. We enjoyed the Phnom Penh Special with shrimp, quail egg in a wonderful pork broth. The Beef Pho is the best in Portland- floral, delicate, sweet. The salad rolls are huge and delicious. Friendly and prompt service. Highly recommended!

Very tasty soups and an even simpler menu to follow. You normally have 2 options depending on the day you go, but it is well worth stopping in for. The broth is fantastic, and worth the price ($15 each). The baguette was actually very soft and fluffy as well, and worked great for dunking in the curry.
I’m very glad I checked this one out, and would even consider going again to try more of the menu!

I can’t believe it took me this long to write this review, as this has been my ultimate go-to spot in Portland since I moved here in 2019. The owners and staff always make me feel at home. I miss auntie Ha and her kindness terribly. The soups are a treat, my favorites being Mì Quảng on Sat, Hủ Tíu Nam Vang on Tue and Bún Nước Lèo on Fri (the menu and days might change though, and really you can’t go wrong, all of them are great).

My apologies to Rose VL, I’ve been coming here for years, but somehow have never reviewed it. This place is the epitome of doing one thing, and doing it really well. Each day they have a soup special, along with one other soup, and that’s about it, except for salad rolls.
The soups have never failed to impress, whether I’ve gone for the special, or not.
My most recent visit, the one that prompted this review, was the first time I’ve ever done a take-out order. The pandemic has made them experts at packaging a bundle that you assemble at home: a container of broth, a bowl with noodles, hoisin sauce and sriracha packets, and perhaps some meat, a baggie with additional meat if appropriate, another baggie with onions and green onions, and a final baggie with lime wedge, cilantro, Thai basil, and bean sprouts. It all came together beautifully, just like it does when dining in.

Otherworldly Vietnamese comfort cuisine. The chicken curry soup is truly incredible. Honestly, I will never understand the limited menu by day that seems to permeate the truly authentic Vietnamese establishments, there is a certain satisfaction that comes with knowing that your favorite dishes are not always available. You snooze, you lose. My advice: don’t snooze.

We come here every time we visit Portland and the experience never gets old. Home style broths full of flavour. Staff that are amazingly friendly. Tried the chicken pho (pho ga) this time around and was amazed at how much flavour was packed into that clear broth! Definitely must try if you’re in Portland

This is the best pho I’ve ate in Portland. Came here on a Tuesday, was able to order the beef pho!!! The soup is fantastic, flavor is right on point, and brings out the sweetness of ! I would come here again every day to try the other soup options. Everything looks so good and worth the visit. The owner also told us, sometimes they will close early, since they sold out before 4pm! So call before you come and get the pho!!’
