As a Madison, Wisconsin native, I can say this with confidence: bratwurst is basically sacred where I’m from. Vincent’s brat passes the Wisconsin test — excellent snap, rich flavor, perfect toppings, and clearly made with care.
For our family’s Wisconsin version, (especially during football season), I’d add a poppy-seed bun option! Simmer those brats in beer, onions and butter before and after the grill!!
From one Madison to another — five stars. #Farleyapproved #GreatjobVincent
Speaking of the cart, it’s super cool, clean, and visually inviting. It has this fun, approachable vibe that makes you want to stop and check out everything he has to offer. And the menu—oh wow, the menu! There’s such a fantastic selection of sausages: Bratwurst, Kielbasa, Frankfurter, and even a Plant-Based Frank, so there’s truly something for everyone. Each option sounds incredible, which makes it both exciting and challenging to decide what to order. On top of that, there are 14 different toppings to choose from. That’s right—14! Everything from tangy mustards to crispy fried onions, fresh toppings, and creamy cheeses. It’s an amazing way to fully customize your sausage, and I was honestly torn trying to decide what combination to go with.
I ultimately went with the Cheddar Cheese Bratwurst, and Vincent recommended pairing it with his beer cheese mustard and dried fried onions. Let me tell you—that combination was nothing short of phenomenal. The brat had the perfect snap with every bite, bursting with juicy, rich flavor that paired perfectly with the toppings. The beer cheese mustard was creamy, flavorful, and slightly tangy, while the dried fried onions added an amazing crunch and depth that made each bite better than the last. The toppings were absolutely spot on—every single one enhanced the brat without overpowering it. Honestly, it was a bite-after-bite experience of pure deliciousness.
And just when I thought the experience couldn’t get any better, Vincent threw in a Frankfurter on the house—which wasn’t necessary at all, but that’s just the kind of person he is. Generous, thoughtful, and genuinely wanting every customer to leave happy, that gesture alone speaks volumes about his character. It wasn’t just a free item—it was a reflection of the care and attention he puts into running his business and making every customer feel valued.
Every aspect of Rose City Wurst reflects Vincent’s passion and dedication. The food is meticulously prepared, the cart is fun and inviting, the menu is exciting, and Vincent himself makes it an experience you’ll never forget. It’s rare to find a small business owner who truly elevates the entire dining experience simply through friendliness, personality, and attention to detail, but Vincent does it effortlessly. He’s the type of owner who makes you feel like part of a community every time you visit.
In short, Rose City Wurst isn’t just a stop for a quick bite—it’s a full experience. The sausages are top-notch, the toppings are perfectly crafted, the variety of menu options is incredible, and Vincent’s personality and hospitality make it unforgettable. Whether you’re a local or just passing through Madison, you owe it to yourself to check this place out. I can’t emphasize enough how much of a difference Vincent makes—he truly embodies what it means to be an outstanding small business owner/operator, and it shows in everything from the food to the way he treats each customer.
I ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND YOU STOP BY Rose City Wurst. You will not be disappointed—this is the kind of experience that will make you a lifelong fan, and trust me!!!!
