Past strip malls and bustling thoroughfares on the outskirts of Rancho Santa Margarita is a narrow road that winds to Trabuco Canyon. The drive from suburbia to Rose Canyon Cantina & Grill takes long enough to make you feel like you could be lost. Just as you begin to look anxiously for opportunities to make a U-Turn, a little sign off to the side of the road reassures the thirsty that the cantina is just around the corner.
Closed on Mondays, a colorful cantina for Mexican eats & margaritas plus a patio canopied by trees.

Came here with Harley Friend’s on morning ride….
Rose Canyon has a great feel about it. It’s very clean and very inviting.
Can’t go wrong sitting outside at the patio.
Inside is just as nice and plenty of seats inside and out.
Place a has a great following.
Mariam our server was accomdating with our order. The help overlapped each other with service.
Making sure our drinks were full and chips were filled.
The food came out tasty and nicely presented.
We will be back again, enjoyed our time
At Rose Canyon Cantina & Grill !
What took us so long? Such a beautiful drive . Once we got there I thought we were transported to the mountains as it’s nestled alongside the mountains.
The staff is really good. They actually like working and it showed with their service. Our waitress had a huge party but still managed to take care of us.
The salsa was a great indication what our food was going to be like. The setting was so perfect. Truly authentic Mexican food.
As you can see the portions are big and I brought home at least half of my plate.
We can’t wait to come back and try one of your margaritas. Shoutout to the staff that worked the morning of 2/15.
Our bartender, who also took our order, (Raymond) was attentive, informative, warm and cordial.
We were here on a Saturday, yet our meals came out fast and they came out hot.
We will return and will ask for a table on the beautiful patio near the beautiful waterfalls.
Plus, the creamy cilantro dressing is the best!
The check in lobby area is small, but quaint and welcoming. The interior again proudly displays its colors, from the beautiful pictures, to the brightly lit bar displaying all the bottles and under lit green glow around the seating.
The staff is professional and friendly. I originally asked to dine in but quickly changed my mind after surveying the ambience out back. Once seated, I ordered their Signature happy hour margarita and decided upon a two item combination dinner to sample their fish taco and beef flauta. My +1 decided upon enchiladas with spinach and shrimp. After ordering, I excitedly began taking pictures of the surroundings.
Our order arrived in a short amount of time and the servers were fantastically attentive in providing drinks, water or anything else you might need. The food was hot and looked delicious. The items looked fresh and carefully made and authentic. The quality of the food was incomparable and high above any large chain Mexican restaurant. The food was savory and scrumptious.
I especially enjoyed my visit to Rose Canyon Cantina, from the backwoods drive through the hills going past Cook’s Corner to this hidden little gem with extraordinary authentic Mexican fare.
This is one of those places you hesitate to tell too many others about, but plan to visit often.
