We have chowed here so many times and always kill the food before I remember to take photos but finally got it done. This place is amazing. The malt crust on this pizza is spectacular and holds it structure well. Absolutely amazing. They don’t shy away from toppings and salad portions are huge. Recommend this place to anyone that loves thin crust pizzas, good chow and and a lovely atmosphere.

The restaurant has a lively sports bar atmosphere, perfect for catching a game or hanging out with friends. The crowd was laid-back and it never felt too packed, so you can enjoy your time without feeling overwhelmed. Service was impressively quick, keeping things smooth and efficient.

If you’re a cheese lover, the cheese sticks are a must-try. They’re loaded with gooey, melted cheese, and every bite leaves your mouth full of rich, cheesy goodness. It’s definitely the standout item on the menu.

However, the rest of the food falls short of expectations. While not bad, there’s nothing particularly memorable about the other dishes, especially considering the higher price point. For what they charge, you’d expect a bit more quality and flavor in their offerings. Overall, it’s a good spot for a fun night out, but maybe not the best value if you’re looking for a standout meal.

My husband and I had lunch at Roots in West Town, Chicago, during the CHIditarod, a fun event for a good cause—Chicago’s epic urban shopping cart race and charity food drive.

We ordered the Korean fried chicken pizza and the Not a Carrot in the World salad. The pizza was delicious, flavorful but not too spicy, and the fresh salad paired nicely with the heavier pizza dish. The salad had delicious mango and avocado and a refreshing carrot tahini dressing. The server was friendly too.

During our visit, we saw the CHIditarod contestants’ decked out shopping carts which was a delightful experience, and the restaurant/bar was full of life with a great DJ!

Absolutely unacceptable.

We came to the restaurant today and it was simply closed. No notice on the door, no update on Google, no information anywhere. We already knew they don’t operate on Mondays and Tuesdays, but now apparently they randomly close on Saturdays too? How are customers supposed to plan anything?

It feels like every time we try to come here, we have to guess whether they’re actually open. There is zero consistency and zero respect for customers’ time.

There’s also constant staff turnover, and the service quality keeps getting worse. It feels disorganized and poorly managed.

On top of that, the food quality has clearly declined. Dishes that used to be good are now disappointing.

Very frustrating experience. We won’t be wasting our time trying to come back again.

As a pizza lover, I can absolutely say this is a 10/10 pizza – it is just incredible. Everything, the dough and the cheese and the pepperoni, it was amazing. I also had the mozzarella sticks were great! The ranch is just absolutely out of this world, you can see the amount we bought haha! Thank you roots! Stay great

Honestly this place is very overpriced. 10 wings for $25 is not reasonable especially since the wings were not great, they were okay. I asked for a side of Nashville sauce (the spiciest on the menu – that was very spicy, which I was presently surprised with) I disliked that you had to pay extra for the ranch and blue cheese. I even saw that they charge for celery sticks with your wings.
The Southwest salad was a big portion, the pic only shows what I served myself. The dressing is a bit sweet for my liking. There’s so many other options around this area that I regret not choosing to go to instead.

Good pizza and mozzarella sticks. Staff was friendly. Nice retro style spot with outdoor sitting. We went during the west fest so it was a busy day on the street. Only complaint was patio chairs were a little uncomfortable

Cool retro-style booths, casual atmosphere.

Handmade pizza with many options to build our own. The malt crust makes it little chewy but delicious.

Service was little long and they forgot to bring mozzarella sticks if not reminded.

Great outdoor seating and service. Drink options were good, the dry cider I had was 10/10 perfect. The quad city style pizza was good, but not to my personal taste. Cheese wasn’t especially flavorful, but the sausage was good. The 12” pie size is good enough for 2, maybe even 2.5 people. Price was fair for the portion too. Recommended.

Not a good one unfortunately

We would appreciate if you just told us you don’t have what we wanted (BBQ Chicken Pizza). Instead if inventing one that is burn, and the chicken was idk what, the Pepsi tasted differently, awkward! The wait was too longg and didnt worth it.
