Roots offers a farm-to-table, Midwestern style dining experience. We have a full service bar and family dining areas. Roots was born out of our large family’s love for food, farming, and hosting. The family farm, where we raise the beef and pork that ends up on your plates, is just down the road in Reynolds, IN. Our family has farmed in the Wolcott area for generations, and we strive to honor our local heritage. We’re proud to feature some classic Midwestern dishes and source what we can from Hoosier companies. We hope you come to Roots with family and friends, enjoy a meal together, and leave full and happy.

We ordered the chicken schnitzel with tortilla (shredded chicken) soup and the chicken Alfredo, which came with garlic bread. We split both meals so we could try a bit of everything, and it was perfect. The chicken schnitzel was tender, perfectly breaded, and honestly reminded me of my mom’s cooking. The chicken Alfredo had a flavorful sauce and nicely cooked chicken, and the garlic bread was fantastic.
If you’re in the area, I’d definitely recommend giving Roots Eatery and Pub a try — you won’t be disappointed!
I wanted to try a local specialty, and it seemed like pork tenderloin sandwiches are a thing around here, so I went ahead and ordered one. The sandwich was delicious, fresh, and generously portioned—so much so that I couldn’t finish it in one sitting. Alongside the sandwich, I also tried a bowl of their mushroom soup, and I have to say, this was the best mushroom soup I’ve ever had. I’m not someone who eats just any mushroom soup—I’m very picky and always look for scratch-made, from-scratch soups, and this one blew me away. The ingredients were fresh, earthy, and perfectly balanced, with a richness and depth that comes from truly high-quality mushrooms and fresh cream, not canned shortcuts. Each spoonful was hearty, flavorful, and satisfying in a way that’s rare to find in a casual restaurant.
The atmosphere at Roots Eatery & Pub was also a highlight. As you walk in, you’re greeted by a front area filled with greenery and plants, which gives the place a welcoming, fresh feel. Someone quickly came to seat us, and we chose a booth, although there’s also a bar area behind the booths for those enjoying drinks. The restaurant has a dimly lit, cozy vibe, reminiscent of a traditional Irish tavern. It felt intimate, clean, and comfortable, perfect for enjoying a relaxed lunch or dinner.
Our server was attentive and quick—our water arrived almost immediately, and our food orders followed shortly after. The soup came out quickly and was piping hot, and the pork tenderloin sandwich followed not long after. Service was smooth, friendly, and professional, making the meal even more enjoyable.
The only downside I experienced was with the to-go boxes. We still had about half a plate of French fries left, and when we asked for boxes, the server took the plate before we could save it, as our mouths were full. It was a minor frustration, and we didn’t make a fuss, but it would have been nice to take home food that we had paid for. Aside from that small hiccup, everything else was excellent.
Parking is somewhat limited on the side of the building, but there’s additional parking further down the street, so it’s manageable. The restaurant itself is clean, well-kept, and thoughtfully designed, with attention to detail in the seating and decor. The combination of farm-to-table freshness, high-quality ingredients, and cozy Irish pub vibes makes this a standout in the area.
Overall, if you’re looking for a homemade, farm-to-table lunch or dinner in Indiana, I highly recommend Roots Eatery & Pub. From their scratch-made mushroom soup to their generous, flavorful pork tenderloin sandwiches, this is a spot that delivers fresh, quality food in a warm, inviting environment. The service is attentive, the atmosphere is charming, and even though it’s a bit off the beaten path, it’s absolutely worth a visit. Whether you’re a local or passing through, this restaurant is a hidden gem for anyone who loves homemade comfort food, farm-fresh ingredients, and cozy Irish pub vibes.
Everything was fresh and the staff is so cheerful.
And quiet! Even when it was filling up for dinner time the sounds of patrons didn’t carry too far. I could drift into my thoughts and pineapple cake.
Will absolutely be back
However I’m only giving them a four stars because the Pop tasted like well water in the water had like a crazy taste. Other than that everything was delicious.
