Really loved this place! I did not know what I expected in this small town at the base of the blue ridge parkway but they really delivered! The wine list, the cocktails, the beers on draft! Tried all three and loved each one I tried! Thai basil and cilantro with Roku gin? Yum! And so many great beers to try!! Plus they do half pours for wine and beer — thank you!! My salad was sooo good! The pizza too! Just go! You will love it! We had just finished driving the parkway and hiking and I was worried I wouldn’t be dressed nicely enough but they are casual while still feeling upscale. Super friendly and great service!

The service was outstanding — attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable about the menu, and genuinely enthusiastic about the food. We appreciated the thoughtful recommendations and the pacing of the meal, which allowed us to savor each dish without feeling rushed.
The food itself was exceptional. Every plate was beautifully presented and layered with flavor. You can tell the kitchen takes pride in sourcing quality ingredients and executing them with creativity and care. Whether it was the perfectly cooked entrée, the vibrant seasonal sides, or the indulgent dessert, each bite felt intentional and memorable. The menu strikes a wonderful balance between elevated comfort food and refined culinary technique.

Root & Vine is such a standout spot in downtown Morganton! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and inviting, with just the right mix of energy and comfort. The food was absolutely fantastic—the chicken tacos were perfectly seasoned and fresh. To go with it, the strawberry lemonade martini was refreshing and creative, the perfect balance of sweet and tart.
What really made the meal special was the service. Our waitress, Madii, was a true superstar—attentive, fun, knowledgeable about the menu, and genuinely friendly. She made excellent recommendations and checked in often enough to make us feel cared for.
Between the delicious food, creative drinks, and the great vibe, Root & Vine has quickly become my favorite place in Morganton. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a great meal!

Easy parking, friendly and welcoming staff not stuffy like sometimes in other high-end restaurants
There is a lot of thoughts into the food and cooking, based on local produce and sustainable partnerships: for example I had the (generous portion of) lion’s mane entree after the fried oysters as an appetizer. All was delicious and the oysters had the right level of spyciness !
Wine pairing and choise was great too.

Really cute spot on town. We were there toward the end of lunch. Got that zatar chicken. I may not have fully read the description but was surprised to find out it was a sandwich. I would have liked this meal better as a platter. Everything tasted great, I just personally didn’t love it as a sandwich.

Nestled in the charming town of Morganton, NC, this hidden gem pairs exquisite food with an impressively robust draft beer selection. Our table ordered the duck, trout, and pizza, giving us the chance to savor a variety of their brilliantly crafted dishes — each one a standout. Went here for a first date. Our waitress Maddy was so sweet and so funny and down to earth. Honestly she made the experience great- I wish more waitresses were sweet like her. We had so much fun and will definitely be back! The food was incredible, we wished we had saved room for dessert, and we can’t wait to come back and try a pizza!

This used to be a five star with a bullet based on atmosphere alone. After the move. I really can’t recommend it. I’ve tried multiple times just to make sure it wasn’t a fluke experience.
It went from the coziest most bestest date night place to a high school cafeteria. I’m sure there were circumstance etc but even with a forced relocation the new layout is just horrid. It’s one big open room. Last time we were dining there were tables and chairs being drug around to rearrange the entire time. Which isn’t really the backdrop I prefer while eating my $45 dark gray “medium rare” steak.
I feel the food has declined since the move. But could honestly just be a result of association with the steep decline of service and atmosphere. We used to try to go atleast once a month. It’s an hour and a half ish drive for us. Now we rarely stop even if we’re driving by.
I’d give it a “meh” out of five. Serious heart breaker.

My wife and I don’t eat out much but when we do Root & Vine is the place we go.. at least once a month. Everything on the menu is amazing! Creative chef amazing service great atmosphere.. ask for the server Madii (great person)
