I love this place. I’ve been in a few times before, but I just took my mom here for breakfast and the atmosphere is really pleasant, the customer service is great, and the food and coffee is delicious.

She ordered the hippie hash and some tea and I ordered an omelette and a hazelnut cortado. Everything was so good.

This was my wife and I’s first visit to this cafe and we will be back! The food was fresh, fast, and delicious. The service was great and it was fun to look around and the shop while waiting for our food. I’m not normally a coleslaw guy but the side of coleslaw that had a little dill in it was fantastic. And I highly recommend the sweet corn fritters.

A great place to share nice moments with family and friends. I think best in town. Great selection of the finest wines, great food and good beer. By the way Craig was a fantastic guy in the wine bar, his knowledge about it is amazing

This place is an absolute gem! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and genuine hospitality that made us feel right at home. The staff here is truly one of a kind—attentive, kind, and clearly passionate about what they do.

Now, let’s talk about that brisket sandwich—WOW. Perfectly smoked, melt-in-your-mouth tender, and packed with flavor in every bite. It’s the kind of sandwich you dream about long after the last crumb is gone. Easily one of the best I’ve ever had!

And can we take a moment to appreciate the horse-themed table tags? Such a fun and creative touch!

All in all, this place delivers on every level—great food, great vibes, and great people. Whether you’re local or just passing through, do yourself a favor and make a stop here. You’ll leave full, happy, and already planning your return.

Everything about this place did not disappoint! The food was phenomenal. The loaded wonton chips were bursting with flavor. It felt definitely like a hidden gem. We were in the area and searched what was open to eat on a Sunday morning. The atmosphere was cozy. Their menu had such a wide variety of food, I truly wamted to order everything. Looked like there was seating outside as well. I’m not a drinker but it looked like they did wine tastings and had an art gallery you can peruse while waiting for your food. There is a kid menu option. I’m unsure if there was parking in the back but for a Sunday morning there was plenty of street parking. Only thing of complaint is there’s no changing table in the bathroom. Will definitely be back to try more of their food that really exceeded expectations.

Root Cafe is a delightful culinary surprise—particularly for lovers of Asian-inspired fusion. From bibimbap bowls to samosas, peanut Thai noodles, and more, every dish feels thoughtfully crafted and full of heart. Pair that with house-roasted coffee or a cocktail, and you’ve got a charming escape in a small-town setting. It’s worth a detour on any SW Michigan trip.

If you’re craving creative global flavors in a laid-back, art-infused atmosphere, Root should be high on your list.

Cool cafe that has seating inside a shop with lots of artsy bits and bops. We had a delicious turkey sandwich and flatbread.

Stopped at this eclectic place for a bite to eat for lunch. It’s a coffee house, restaurant and gift shop all in one. There are two dining areas inside and outdoor dining in the back and in front as well. You order your food at the counter and they’ll bring it to your table. My husband and I shared the pretzel bites to start. Puffy little pillows of goodness. I had a cheese flatbread and added kalamata olives. The pizza was excellent and had a great crust. My husband absolutely loved his sandwich. He ordered the Italian artisan sausage sandwich made with housemade sausage, ham, pepperoncini, roasted onion, spinach, tomato, provolone and Italian aioli. He called it “the best sandwich.”
We enjoyed this unique place and if ever back in the area, we would stop here again.
