This bakery and cafe is amazing. Had a perfect lunch today with friends after we had stopped at Cave Run Antiques. Brought home a butterscotch pie to die for and a dozen iced sugar cookies. I wish I didn’t live for far away from this wonderful place!

I honestly can say when I pass through KY and I’m able to get to this place I am definitely grabbing me a meal and a few desserts! It was my 1st time there and a young lady heard me say that and next thing I know, there was a sugar cookie and a smile standing next to me. She was so nice and said this is for you since it’s your 1st time, welcome! I was given a tour and a description of each treat I saw. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich on cranberry wheat bread. Delish!!! I had the pasta salad and a peach sweet tea. I loved it all. The only thing I wasn’t expecting the peaches inside. I think it’s great to have in there but when I ate them after the tea was gone m, it didn’t taste much like peaches and the texture was stiff on most on them. The deserts were BOMB though! I grabbed a few more sugar cookies for my glam babies, a bird’s nest, a deconstructed German chocolate cake and the oowee gooey bar, plus a bunny shaped dog treat for our fur baby. I recommend this place just like it was to me. Thank you all in there who gave me such a nice welcome, even the locals were welcoming me. I didn’t get pics once I got home it was late and by the time we woke up the bag was already dug into once it was seen so we enjoyed the treats together. That bowl was the pasta salad and the other was what the sandwich came in. That drink didn’t come from there.

Roor-A-Backery has a beautiful outdoor seating area with charming metal chairs and flowers, perfect for enjoying the sun. The indoor seating is cozy too, and their food was delicious! It would be great if they offered more vegan options as well. People are very friendly 🙂

This was the first time I ate at this bakery and cafe. it was excellent! I ordered the Hokie Artichokie, which is a grilled deli turkey sandwich with provolone, tomato, and a creamy spinach and artichoke spread. It comes with chips, which can be substituted with a cup of soup or a signature salad. I chose sweet mango peach tea to drink which was so good! I purchased a strawberry iced sugar cookie to eat later. It was fresh and delicious. Service was exceptional!

Worth the detour!! We read about this place online and, in spite of the high accolades, it exceeded our expectations! In our group we had the Broccoli Cheese soup, the Sweet and Smokey Turkey and Bacon Over My Hammy sandwiches and the Chicken Salad Garden Salad. Everything was exceptional. Ingredients were fresh, staff was patient and helpful and it had a varied selection. The home baked items were wonderful! Don’t miss this gem!

I had a cake made for my sister’s 30th Birthday. They worked so hard to make the cake perfect and in great time. It was delicious. Everyone in the family complemented the taste and how good it looked. I would definitely recommend this place.

Probably the best cinnamon roll that I’ve ever had. Delicious dough that was made of a bread-style base (not, thank goodness, from overly rich, sugary brioche or something), perfectly complemented by the thick cream cheese frosting on top, and the swirls of cinnamon inside. Loved it. A perfect, authentic piece of baking delight.
Charming, cost atmosphere at the bakery, too.

So surprised to find this unique spot has so few reviews. After traveling all over the lower 48, I will have to say Root-A-Bakers is in our top nationwide picks overall. From the friendly staff, appearance and most of all the delicious array of offerings, it’s unparalleled. We had the bacon and spinach quiche, along with the choose three salads. We chose chicken, pimento cheese and pasta. Also tried the loaded potato salad and broccoli and cauliflower salad. Breads are baked daily and offerings include cheddar herb and cranberry walnut. We did not have a bad bite. And the desserts are “to die for.” We tried the famous sugar cookies and the scones. If you’re looking for a breakfast scone, try the sausage and cheddar one. It’s unbelievable and not hard like typical sconces. So delicious! This place is so much more than a bakery. You will not leave hungry, portions are huge and you’ll have a smile on your face!

What a gem! So glad we stopped to check it out. Staff was extremely hospitable and my cinnamon roll was delicious. My daughter got the white chocolate raspberry scone, and all first time visitors get a free sugar cookie (something they are known for, apparently)! Highly recommend!

Great place for lunch! Large portions, everything’s homemade and delicious. Save room for dessert. I had coconut cream pie that was still warm from baking that morning — my favorite food and it was definitely the best I ever tasted! Make reservations — We almost didn’t get our party of four seated at 11 am because there was a large party in the second seating area.
