When it comes to chicken, Oceanside has been lacking in a solid establishment dedicated to the art of poultry. Now we have Roostr Yard!
Roostr Yard is Oceanside’s premier restaurant that offers a safe haven for chicken lovers in the city.
Even more, their preparation process is healthier than other chicken establishments.
To be clear, Roostr Yard is NOT your typical trendy “hot chicken” establishment.
Instead, their preparation involves a 24-hour brining process and then the chicken is grilled to perfection.
This process leaves the inside tender & juicy, with the outside crispy & flavorful.
Their location is centrally located off of Oceanside Blvd & they’re across from the new Frontwave Arena.
They have a spacious interior, with plenty of seating for families & groups and they also have covered patio seating outside.
I also appreciate that they have mural artwork & decor that honors the landmarks of Oceanside.
Although they have parking spaces up front, they share the lot with neighboring businesses, which can sometimes mean parking further down from them.
I love their dark meat chicken cuts and also a side plate coconut curry lime rice, and I recommend their wraps, salads or sandwiches that come on a ciabatta.
They also now offer protein bowls, which are perfect for my weightlifting goals.
Overall, I truly feel that Roostr Yard is a breath of fresh air from the typical trendy chicken spots and I love that I now have an healthier option in them.

First time coming here and I must say that the chicken really is pretty awesome. You can tell they put a lot of time into the recipe and the preparation and I’m a fan. Another thing I appreciate is thr fact that all of the sauces are right there on the table and in large enough quantities to not feel guilty about drowing your sammich in it. A++ on the whole experience. I got the Chipotle Chicken Sandwich and was not let down at all. Would definitely recommend!

I decided to try something different instead of the usually restaurants I go to, so ordered takeout. I got the Yard Salad, but when I got home and opened it, I was surprised to find only half a piece of chicken and three Brussels sprout croutons. The flavor of both the chicken and croutons was really good, and Jass at the register was super nice — which is why I’m giving this place 3 stars. However, for the price, the portion was disappointing. I could’ve gone to El Pollo Loco and gotten a salad with way more chicken for about the same cost. They really need to be more generous with the chicken and croutons.

I’m a self-admitted picky eater , so when I walked in and saw how clean the place was (yes, even the bathroom was spotless ✨), I knew we were off to a good start. The staff was super friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better.

I ordered the 1/4 dark meat chicken with fries. The chicken was tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. The fries? Perfectly seasoned and piping hot. Everything came out fast and fresh, which was such a surprise in the best way.
Honestly, my only complaint is that they aren’t located in San Diego. I’d happily make the 40-minute drive just to eat here again. Totally worth it.

Chicken is perfectly roasted with a charred exterior and juicy inside. A choice of sauces with various spice levels are available to add to the chicken. Southwest chicken sandwich has a good balance of protein and salad with a flavorful sauce on a soft bread.

I went with the Plate featuring a 1/4 breast and wing chicken served up with Coconut Curry Lime Rice, which was super tasty. The menu has some unique options, and I really enjoyed trying something different. Plus, they have four delicious sauces to choose from! The staff are very friendly.

Service was fine, but no real smile greeting. We ordered half chicken meal with fries and drink $20. We split not real hungry. Sat at comfy booth. Need more booths. Clean bathroom, 2 stalls. Nice coveted outdoor eating area. Nice chicken sauces. Mixed Mango and caliente. Caliente pretty spicy!

I ordered from Roostr Yard and wow, everything was absolutely delicious. I had the 1/2 chicken with red pepper sauce, fries, rice and garlic bread and every item hit the spot. The chicken was perfectly seasoned, juicy and grilled just right. The fries were crisp, the rice was flavorful and garlic bread was tasty. This meal was comforting, satisfying and exceeded my expectations. I’ll definitely be ordering again.
