Rons Barn Barbecue Seafood: A Flavorful Fusion of BBQ and …
Reviews
I recently placed a takeout order at Ron’s Barn in Sanford, NC, and what should have been a simple meal turned into a profoundly frustrating and hazardous ordeal. As someone with deadly food allergies, I always request that items not touch each other in to-go orders to minimize cross-contamination risks—a reasonable accommodation that this restaurant has successfully handled for me in the past. However, the woman who took my order outright refused, stating flatly that they “wasn’t going to do that.” When I explained my serious medical condition, she dismissively replied, “I’ll tell them, but I doubt they will do it.” This response was not only unhelpful but shockingly indifferent to a life-threatening issue.
To compound the issue, Ron’s Barn clearly has the tools to accommodate such requests—they use individual to-go containers, as evidenced by the fact that one of my sides arrived separately. I ordered a three-meat plate, yet the rest of the food was deliberately packed together, ignoring my explicit instructions. Upon further inquiry, I discovered that the order-taker hadn’t even bothered to relay my request to the kitchen staff responsible for packaging. This wasn’t an oversight; it felt like a purposeful disregard for my safety, especially since fulfilling the request would have caused zero inconvenience—the order-taker doesn’t even handle the packing.
I refused to pay for the contaminated plate and only covered my other party’s items, but the damage was done. It’s infuriating and deeply concerning that a restaurant would treat a customer’s health with such reckless negligence, potentially endangering lives over something as simple as using separate containers. Ron’s Barn, you’ve lost a repeat customer, and I strongly advise anyone with allergies to steer clear—this level of apathy is unacceptable and could have deadly consequences. If you’re reading this, demand better; your safety should never be an afterthought.
