We came here for a one‑week vacation, hoping to experience an authentic local breakfast. We tried asking AI for recommendations but couldn’t find a restaurant that felt right. In the end, we decided to give up driving and just wander around on foot, hoping to stumble upon something by chance. That’s how we discovered this charming little restaurant. The sign on the door said it opened from 8:00 to 8:30, but when we passed by at 8:31, the place was still dark inside. However, we noticed smoke rising from the BBQ grill and the air was filled with a delicious aroma. Eventually, we found someone who seemed to work there, and he told us the restaurant would actually open at 9:00.
So we spent the next half hour exploring the lake behind the restaurant, enjoying the scenery, and chatting with some people fishing. It turned out to be a very fulfilling wait.
Sure enough, the restaurant opened right at 9:00. Wow—we were so glad we had waited, because we ended up enjoying a truly authentic and delicious American breakfast, served by a warm and friendly owner, surrounded by lovely fellow guests. We had such a wonderful and unforgettable breakfast experience there.

I remember coming to romi’s BBQ back when it was in Ukiah. I loved it back then and I love it till this day! Try the Lake county location and honestly it was perfect! Ordered the tri-tip sandwich with a side of mac and cheese and it was so good I will definitely come back again, I definitely do miss this restaurant in Ukiah.

Friendly waitress. Definitely a hometown feel to it. The corn on the cob was really good and so was the pulled pork (with some delicious South Carolina mustard-based BBQ). The garlic bread, outstanding. The trip-tip, a bit dry for me. If you’re visiting, check it out.

Food is great! We had the brisket dinner and tri-tip sandwich. Meat was excellent. Mac and cheese and coleslaw are fantastic!

I was sooooo wanting this place to have good “Q”, but I was terribly disappointed. I was initially impressed on the walk up, smelling the “smoke” in the air and seeing the “Trager” style double smoker out front.
My Wife and I ordered the brisket and tri tip chili with a couple other sides. What a disaster.
The “chili” was more like bland ranch style beans with zero visible tri tip bits.
The brisket was closer to burnt ends or pulled beef, NOT brisket in the proper BBQ sense. It was dry, bland and tough. The fat was not buttery as it should be for brisket either. I did see a nice smoke ring on some of the larger pieces.
The coleslaw was limp and flavorless. We had to toss it out since there was nothing I could do to fix it at home.
I did what I could at home to save the “brisket” and beans. Check the last picture on my post.
On the bright side, the servers were very sweet and attentive. The location was nice, right by the lake. Nice big parking lot. The garlic bread and corn on the cob were very tasty and fresh.
I understand restaurant owners are fighting to stay open and are trying to stretch their product, but sometimes you just have to cut down on what is on the menu or prepare smaller amounts of the slow cook items each day.

Yes I tried Mexican nachos at a bbq restaurant but it was very good. Always enjoyed their burgers and now have a choice. Wife had deep fried fish sandwich, may try the grilled snapper next. Beer is ice cold as it should be.

We stopped in for a late lunch on a holiday as we passed through town to try this place out.
We found that with only one waitress working it took a little longer to get seated, drinks and to place our order. She was very friendly, just busy.
We got the shredded chicken sandwich and a brisket sandwich, both where okay just not the best we have had. You could tell that thy had been sitting around for awhile and where the bottom picks of meat because they where dried out and chewy.
Otherwise it was a nice place.

I would rate negative if I could… I’ve had good bbq. This wasn’t it… the fries were soggy and everything (somehow even the soggy fries) were burnt! $67 down the drain for food we barely touched. I’ve never had “fall off the bone” ribs that were so dry and lacked taste… not a sauce in site and the ranch didn’t help. They didn’t even give us silverware or anything in the to go order! The salad bar was covered in plastic wrap (oh how sanitary ). It’s sad when one of the only edible parts in our meal was an unseasoned piece of corn. (Also I’m aware brisket is meant to be somewhat burnt… but it should at least have sauce or taste like seasoning even touched it. This stuff was SO dry)

Super laid back (off-season) lakeside, bbq joint. The birria ramen hit the spot on a cold, rainy day. The outdoor seating is dog friendly and covered which was a plus. Order off the Mexican menu if they have it, everything slapped.

We had the pleasure to stop at Romi’s Brew and BBQ today and totally enjoyed our lunch and the time we spent on the patio watching the lake. Our server was polite and engaging, we enjoyed talking with her about the area and menu items. She suggested a sparkling rose` and it was wonderful. They have a robust menu, homemade sauces to select from, food was excellent, generous portions, and reasonably priced. We listened as other guests made favorable comments about their meals as well. Do yourself a favor and give Romi’s Brew & BBQ a try. If you find this post helpful please give me a thumbs up. Thank you!
