I ran in here to grab a couple of slices to go. It was like stepping back in time in the best way. Old time pizza place with an old-fashioned register, cash only and the best pizza (crispy, chewy crust) I’ve had in a while! Generous slices of plain cheese pizza – made with quality ingredients. Two delicious slices costing only $5! I can see why Rome won a pizza competition!

Step back in time family owned pizzeria with great tasting pizza. Straightforward menu choices with different size pies available (or by the slice), large portions, nostalgic old school order counter with stools and postings on the wall. Fast friendly service, very reasonable prices and plenty of tables/seating. Cash only payments. Meter street parking. Not handicap accessible as there is a step up at the entrance.

Their pizza is delicious, one of favorites tbh. However I had a bad experiences concerning the customer service and haven’t been able to order from here again :/ I ordered 2 slices and the person who took my order over the phone heard two pies and then I received a call from them & the guy was rude and angry bcz he insisted I made the mistake even tho I remember saying slices not pies. I understand the frustration but it could’ve been handled better, I would’ve even offered to pay for it if he would’ve addressed me calmly and respectfully. However, that doesn’t take away from how good the pizza is. I would recommend to others.

Ordered two fresh personal pizzas (one cheese and one Rome Special). Not only were they huge portion sizes (felt like each were medium sized pizzas) Rome Pizza also does not skimp on toppings. Great tasting and a wonderful stop! Definitely a must try.

I lived in Dunellen 1965 to 1978. The pizza is perfect! I was in Toms River visiting family and had to head up to the town. My uncle owned 8 on the break back then. (Ed) It was closed but I did get 2 slices of perfection for lunch at Rome Pizza. It took me back to the days I lived there. Thank you!

Rome Pizza is a hidden gem. If you are wanting a slice of NY Pizza and can’t get to the city, Rome is your place. It sits across the Dunellen train station, so it’s a train ride away if you are outside the area
