Since 1977, The Roman Cafe has served Tonawanda and the Western New York area as a family owned and operated business. We’re more than just an Italian restaurant, with over 150 menu items including Italian pasta, dessert and our award winning pizza and wings. The Roman Cafe is fairly priced and you get a great meal in a cozy, family atmosphere. We’re not a chain. Most of our employees have been with us for years and we know 95% of our customers by name.

First time coming. My wife and i have been wanting to come because reviews were good. Had high hopes for here. First had French onion soup….soup was very dark…it was ok…have had better. Then i ate the baked ziti and it was just ok. My wife had meatballs and ravioli. The meatballs were rubbery. In all nothing was great. Should have gone to chefs or payne’s down the street.

My 85-year old mother went to lunch there Saturday, Dec. 27 and ordered the tripe like she normally does. She said it was “mushy and tasted old” and didn’t finish eating the rest of it. Thank goodness because who knows what was wrong with it as she threw up all night long and felt horrible. Fortunately, she feels a bit better today, but honestly, what is wrong with you to prepare obviously bad or spoiled tripe? She’ll never touch tripe again after last night and that was her favorite dish ever. If she gets worse and has to go to the hospital, I’ll be contacting your owner directly.

Our service was hands down a great experience. Amanda H was our server. She is the best! Haven’t had Roman in awhile figured we stop in and have a family meal. The food was top notch . We will absolutely be back. I grabbed a menu on the way out so now we know all the amazing food we will have to try for our next visit! Thank you again Amanda H!!

I don’t review things but I do have an issue when a business takes advantage of customers. Ordered delivery. With tax and tip in mind, a $10 side was substituted for a bag of Lays chips. No communication before to explain and NO communication or explanation after when we tried to ask. $10 is not much but could make or break an evening for a traveler on a budget. With no communication, it seemed to malicious to save money for the Cafe. Misleading at best, theft by fraud at the worst. Mistakes happen, but to refuse to communicate after, is not acceptable.
Everything else was pretty good. A bit overpriced for the quality but food prices have risen so not their fault.

Came in for a small bite to eat for lunch. Our server gave us a booth (one of four total). Never told us her name. The menu didn’t have their options for drinks so we had to ask the waitress, she then rattled off a rather long list of sodas, teas, and such. Any questions about items, she would look at our menu as well, possibly a new hire? We ended up ordering the chicken tender 5 and fries, it took about 15-20 minutes before we got our plate. The chicken tenders were a really good length, however they were on the thin side. The breading on the chicken had a good amount of crunch to it, however it ended up not so crispy. It was really juicy so that was fine. The fries that came with it were unsalted (not an issue, just putting it out there) and the celery was on the thin side. We got fried dough for a desert, powdered sugar and cinnamon to try both. They came out really hot and tasted good.
The food was good, the wait wasn’t too long. The portion size was on the large side. Food is really cheap if you dont mind sharing, could get up there in price for your own plates.

We had a girls night out for supper and we were Blown Away with the service, food, and cocktails!
I would ask the restaurant to maybe play some Frank Sinatra/Tony Bennett music for the ultimate Italian Experience.

My daughter ordered two subs and pizza logs. She asked for toasted rolls,they were not, she asked for both oil and mayo, they were not. The order taker on Thursday acked pissed and on pickup said he didn’t have 50 cents to make change and said I’ll owe you. Bad customer service and rude interactions. Never order again!!

When I visit my family in NT, this is our go-to spot. Their wings are really, really good. Crispy outside, meaty and tender inside. Can’t wait to have them again!
