I love coming to Rom Mai Thai, especially for their lunch specials. The soup that comes with the lunch is actually my favorite part — it’s so simple, comforting, and surprisingly delicious every time.

The food overall is very solid and always tastes fresh, with consistently good quality across the menu. The restaurant is always clean, which makes dining in even more enjoyable.

The service here really stands out — the staff are always amazing, super friendly, and welcoming. It’s a great spot for a relaxed, satisfying meal, and I’m always happy to come back.

Rom Mai Thai is genuinely impressive. The drinks are excellent, refreshing, and mixed perfectly. I tried the Red Curry with meat, Pineapple Fried Rice, and Pad Kee Mao (extra spicy). Every dish stood out. The red curry was rich, creamy, and full of depth. The pineapple fried rice had a clean sweet-savory balance. The pad kee mao was extremely spicy, even for someone who usually handles Asian spice levels, and it tasted incredible.

The ingredients are fresh, portions are generous, and the service is quick and friendly. One of the best Thai spots I’ve tried recently and absolutely worth recommending.

This cafe might appear quiet from the outside, but that’s part of its charm. Inside, you’ll find some of the most flavorful food with very generous portions. The staff is exceptionally pleasant and provides service that is both attentive and warm. It’s a place that truly deserves more recognition. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars. Don’t miss out on this spot!

We visited Rom Mai Thai on June 9th after completing our Alaskan cruise. We were walking around Seattle and decided to stop here for lunch. When we got there the restaurant was about to close in about an hour and a half. There was one other party there, and what we noticed is that this restaurant had a lot of to go orders. Multiple people were going in and out within that last bit of time before they closed to get ready for dinner

While we were there we got combo v that was the pad thai and the swimming Rama vegetables. We also added a papaya salad as a starter because it looked amazing based on the pictures I saw online.

Every bit of food we had was perfectly balanced with sweet, savory, spicy, and the extra hint of citrus where needed was perfect. I never had swimming Rama vegetables before and the sauce they were in was so scrumptious.

Our server was a complete gem. He knew that we were going to split portions of the meal and asked the chef to do that ahead of time. He also came to check on us multiple times even though his shift was about to end.

The space itself was right and inviting with all the different decor and green that painted the walls. It was a very casual vibe and you could tell that a lot of heart was put into the space.

If you are ever in the mood to try some delicious Thai food please come and check this place out.

Amazing joint. We have been coming here for years. And we will be coming here for years to come. They don’t skimp on the portions, the food is delicious and consistent. Tu, the owner and his family runs the place. Him, Ann, and the staff are warm and very inviting. Have it be you eat inside their beautiful establishment, or get take out. It’s on the short list for us when we think of what we want to eat when cooking is not in the cards. Love them, support them!

Pretty good food, service is quick.

We came in for dinner on a weekday and were able to get seated right away. Ordered 2 pad thais – one with chicken and one with tofu. The pad Thai is not greasy at all which is great and the flavors are quite nice too.

Docked a star because the tofu tasted a bit odd and had a funny smell to it – I’m picky about tofu, so this might just be an issue for me.

Good Food, but Menu Clarity and Execution Need Work

The food was solid—so good I didn’t even stop to take a picture before digging in! But a few things kept this from being a five-star experience.

First, there was an overwhelming amount of sprouts in my Pad Thai. I enjoy sprouts, but this was way too much—more of a topping than a balanced part of the dish. Secondly, I ordered spring rolls, expecting fresh rice-paper rolls, but I was given Thai spring rolls (which are crispy and fried). I didn’t realize the menu had both Thai Spring Rolls and Thai Fresh Rolls, so I didn’t catch the difference when ordering.

Now, I take some responsibility for not reading the menu carefully, but a menu should be designed for instant clarity, not require a second look to catch key differences. If a customer still gets confused despite the description being there, it means the labeling could be improved. I’ve also seen at least one other place do this, so maybe it’s a trend—but it’s still confusing.

Another issue: the bag was stapled shut, which meant I couldn’t check my food before leaving. I get that it’s meant for security, but it also assumes everything inside is correct—when in this case, it wasn’t.

On top of that, the dish itself lacked seasoning, which I suspect was because I asked for no spice. I understand removing chili, but it felt like they didn’t adjust the other flavors to compensate. I had to add my own salt, pepper, and seasonings just to bring out some taste.

Finally, my friend ordered cashew chicken and noticed there wasn’t much protein in the dish. The portion could have been better balanced.

Overall, the food has potential, but they need to improve menu clarity, order accuracy, seasoning adjustments, and portion balance. Fix these details, and this could easily be a five-star spot!

Houstonian’s Review – loved this restaurant! The food was authentically delicious—every bite was full of bold, traditional flavors that transported me straight to Thailand. The service was super friendly and incredibly polite, making the entire dining experience warm and welcoming.

If you’re visiting, you must try their coconut ice cream—it’s the perfect refreshing and creamy finish to your meal. Highly recommend this spot for anyone craving real Thai cuisine and top-notch hospitality!
