pleasant atmosphere, attentive servers that are easy to get the attention of, and good food. our reservation was for 8pm and the server kindly informed us that the kitchen closed at 9 so ordering any extra food before then was acceptable. we first ordered the sashimi platter, dry aged ribeye, wagyu tartare, fresh oysters, and bone marrow. around halfway through our meal we also ordered the corn, more oysters, and a bowl of rice. the staff were very accomodating when we asked for plain rice around 9pm, didnt expect them to accept that order but they managed to fulfill it.

one issue we had was how long it took for the corn, dry aged rib eye, and bone marrow to arrive to our table. the sashimi, tartare, and oysters were quick, but the other three took much longer and didnt arrive until the 44 minute mark of the hour. otherwise, amazing service.

the oysters and bone marrow were our favorites, everything else was okay. the wasabi was textured and different from every other place we have dined at on the east and qest coast! truly wonder how roka akor prepares the wasabi.

the corn was good but what they dont tell you is that its corn on the cob halved. it’s a little messy and personally i think cutting them lengthwise into quarters or thinner would ensure for a less messy experience for the customer so that customers can still use their chopsticks for the corn on the cob.

Very upscale lovely steak and seafood restaurant. The omakase offering is a variety of their signature and most sort after menu items. They are not small portions by any means, all meticulously crafted by the chef as a beautiful way to explore their menu.
Everything from A5+ Wagyu to lobster tail and a dessert selection. I won’t tell too much as to give away the experience of being in the chef hands – but I can say they are good hands to be in. Thankyou for this special meal on our 20th wedding anniversary.

Contemporary, but excellent. I’ve been to dozens of omakases, but this one was super unique, easily in my top 3. Besides sashimi, nigiri, and the usual hot stuff, they had a huge lobster tail, wagyu, and an amazing dessert platter. I was so stuffed I had to take 20% of it home. Definitely recommend this unique experience.

Pros: the food was well prepared and promptly delivered. We sat in the downstairs area that was giving speakeasy vibes and I really enjoyed it. If you are sensitive to sound though, you may not like it during prime time because when it fills up, it is very loud in there. I didn’t mind it, but I know some people like a more peaceful surrounding in which case the upstairs would’ve probably been better.

As you can see from the photos, we had a good variety of food and I particularly like my dessert to come out with my supper and they delivered on that request properly.

The coffee machine was broken, which was a disappointment so I ended up having green tea with my dessert, but was still enjoyable.

The crispy Brussels were perfect, and the dessert was the perfect amount of rich and flavorful. I do believe the dessert was a bit overpriced, but it was a work dinner that a client paid for so I can’t complain too much.

Cons: nothing significant. Our server was great and even got us a complementary hot plate to try. We only got delayed slightly with my tea, but it didn’t ruin the experience.

Great ambiance, great drinks and spectacular food. Every dish is rich in flavor leaving me eager to try more. They have 2 separate dining areas, upper level being bright and perfect for families with the lower level having their bar with dim lighting and plenty of seating; if you are interested in their Happy Hour then you must dine downstairs as it is not applicable to the upstairs dining room. Depending on when you go, there can be long wait times but overall food still seemed to come out fairly quickly after ordering. Of my times of dining, I do prefer getting multiple small dishes and sharing to really take advantage and enjoy more of the menu. Personal favorites of mine will be any Lychee cocktail of theirs, the dessert platter to endulge in a variety of sweets and their 6oz Wagyu Beef with Bone Marrow. My boyfriend and I will now make any excuse to come as it has climbed the list of one of our favorite spots in the city.
Parking in the area is very limited, alot extra time for it.

The omakase tasting menu is really great. Highlight for the mushroom risotto that comes in one of the courses. The place is quite expensive, but it’s a nice experience for a nice occasion.

Roka Akor absolutely delivers when it comes to food and atmosphere. The sushi was fresh, creative, and beautifully presented—easily some of the best I’ve had. The entire menu felt thoughtfully crafted, and the flavors were spot on. You can tell the chefs here really know what they’re doing. We ordered multiple appetizers and entrees to share as well as all the desserts. I wouldn’t choose any dessert again as they were pretty mediocre

The ambiance is also top-tier. Sleek, modern, and upscale, but still warm and comfortable. It’s the kind of place that feels special without being stuffy. Add to that an excellent spirits list with rare whiskies, great sake options, and inventive cocktails—it’s a dream for anyone who appreciates a good drink with their meal.

Only downside? The timing between courses was off. The brought our food to soon, making our business party of 6 feel overly rushed which threw off the rhythm of the evening. And unfortunately, the restroom was in poor shape—not what you’d expect from a restaurant of this caliber.

All in all, Roku Akor is still 100% worth a visit for the food and vibe alone. Just hoping they tighten up service timing and take better care of the facilities next time. If they do, it’s easily a 5-star spot!

Roka Akor is truly one of my favorite restaurants. I’ve always loved Japanese cuisine, and this place is definitely among the best I’ve ever been to. Everything here is prepared with such care and creativity — from their perfectly grilled steaks to the sweet and smoky corn, and of course, their incredible desserts. Every dish is beautifully presented, which makes dining here not just a meal but an experience.

I come to Roka Akor quite often, and it never disappoints. The atmosphere is stylish yet welcoming, the service is attentive, and the food is consistently outstanding. Whether you’re visiting for a casual dinner or a special occasion, it’s the perfect spot.

Without a doubt, I give Roka Akor a full five stars. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves Japanese cuisine and appreciates top-quality dining.
