one issue we had was how long it took for the corn, dry aged rib eye, and bone marrow to arrive to our table. the sashimi, tartare, and oysters were quick, but the other three took much longer and didnt arrive until the 44 minute mark of the hour. otherwise, amazing service.
the oysters and bone marrow were our favorites, everything else was okay. the wasabi was textured and different from every other place we have dined at on the east and qest coast! truly wonder how roka akor prepares the wasabi.
the corn was good but what they dont tell you is that its corn on the cob halved. it’s a little messy and personally i think cutting them lengthwise into quarters or thinner would ensure for a less messy experience for the customer so that customers can still use their chopsticks for the corn on the cob.
Everything from A5+ Wagyu to lobster tail and a dessert selection. I won’t tell too much as to give away the experience of being in the chef hands – but I can say they are good hands to be in. Thankyou for this special meal on our 20th wedding anniversary.
As you can see from the photos, we had a good variety of food and I particularly like my dessert to come out with my supper and they delivered on that request properly.
The coffee machine was broken, which was a disappointment so I ended up having green tea with my dessert, but was still enjoyable.
The crispy Brussels were perfect, and the dessert was the perfect amount of rich and flavorful. I do believe the dessert was a bit overpriced, but it was a work dinner that a client paid for so I can’t complain too much.
Cons: nothing significant. Our server was great and even got us a complementary hot plate to try. We only got delayed slightly with my tea, but it didn’t ruin the experience.
I’ve never bought a Japanese A5 steak before . I finally did it and it melted in my mouth . Worth it especially as Christmas gift to myself .
nate — sushi was amazing – fish temperature was on point, the shari was delectable
tanner – thank you for the hospitality, kindness and laughters
and lastly Jeff — our server , you were truly on point the whole night from beginning till end. Much appreciated team Roka .. ill definitely be back .
Parking in the area is very limited, alot extra time for it.
The ambiance is also top-tier. Sleek, modern, and upscale, but still warm and comfortable. It’s the kind of place that feels special without being stuffy. Add to that an excellent spirits list with rare whiskies, great sake options, and inventive cocktails—it’s a dream for anyone who appreciates a good drink with their meal.
Only downside? The timing between courses was off. The brought our food to soon, making our business party of 6 feel overly rushed which threw off the rhythm of the evening. And unfortunately, the restroom was in poor shape—not what you’d expect from a restaurant of this caliber.
All in all, Roku Akor is still 100% worth a visit for the food and vibe alone. Just hoping they tighten up service timing and take better care of the facilities next time. If they do, it’s easily a 5-star spot!
I come to Roka Akor quite often, and it never disappoints. The atmosphere is stylish yet welcoming, the service is attentive, and the food is consistently outstanding. Whether you’re visiting for a casual dinner or a special occasion, it’s the perfect spot.
Without a doubt, I give Roka Akor a full five stars. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves Japanese cuisine and appreciates top-quality dining.
