My wife and I had a great dinner experience at Roja. Really awesome hospitality. James has an amazing drink menu, get the BOB! Roberto’s food menu is excellent. I ended up with the fish special for dinner, which was great. We had the lobster toast and ceviche for apps which were delicious. For dessert the panna cotta was tart and tasty and the bread pudding was excellent. Highly recommend Roja!

We were walking down State Street and happened to see this restaurant, so we decided to give it a try. Though we didn’t have reservations we were seated right away. Our server John was excellent! He’d come by periodically to check on us and to pour more wine as needed. He recommended a really good Cabernet Franc that was reasonably priced.
We had a Ribeye and Wild Mushroom Lasagna and both were really tasty. The Ribeye had two steaks on the plate and cooked perfectly.

This was absolutely the best restaurant I have ever been to! The food melts in your mouth. We were in Los Altos for the evening and had no idea where to eat, but we chose this place and still cannot stop thinking about it. I’m quite the food critic, but this was divine. Seriously. I would drive two hours to Los Altos just to eat here again. I had the Mission Fig Agnolotti, and I just can’t stop thinking about it. The bread and browned butter were so delicious. We got seconds, and I even wanted to take the brown butter home with me haha! I never write reviews for restaurants, but this place deserves it. It has become my absolute favorite! My mouth is still watering

I visited during their soft opening with friends. The food is amazing! Not a typical American cuisine, the chef added a fine touch to each dishes, even a simple spaghetti just taste amazing! They also serve the Beef Wellington, which was finely cook, the meat is so soft cover by a layer of bread.
The place is spacy, with nice decoration. The owner is super friendly and cool! I haven’t got to try their cocktail yet, but definitely try those next time!!

Roja took over where ASA used to be, and it’s fantastic! They kept much of the original ASA menu, and the head chef is still from the original team. If you liked ASA, you’ll definitely love Roja too. It’s less crowded, slightly more affordable, and the same bartender/manager is still making the best cocktails in downtown Los Altos — definitely try the milk-clarified cocktail!

GO. GO GO. ♀️We finally tried Roja now operating in the old Asa spot. We were sad to see Asa go, but the food at Roja is as good, if not better.
One area that is a BIG improvement compared to Asa are the portions. You will leave full and satisfied.
We didn’t order the Lamb osso buco but saw it on several tables and it is huge.
While Roja is in the same space, the food has its own vibe, flavors and uniqueness that will definitely bring us back. ✨
It is great for any occasion, date night, a business diner, girls night and there were several tables with families there including younger kids (would recommend 6+).
The service was attentive and efficient. The kitchen was amazing as we noted to the server that we were planning to share everything and they brought out the salad, and pasta already split in our own plates. Nice touch.
Click on the photos to see what we ordered. Can’t wait to go back and try more items.

Roja is an exceptional culinary gem in the heart of Los Altos. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a modern, refined atmosphere that balances warm hospitality with high-end service. The experience is thoughtful from start to finish — both visually and gastronomically.
We began with freshly shucked oysters served over crushed ice with chili mignonette and shallots — an incredibly clean, vibrant bite that paired beautifully with a glass of Leirana Albariño. The presentation was impeccable, and the oysters were some of the freshest I’ve had on the West Coast.
The Imperial Golden Osetra caviar arrived next, elegantly served on ice with blinis, brioche, crème fraîche, and a minimalist silver coral stand. Every detail, down to the chilled mother-of-pearl spoons, was intentional and luxurious. It was pure decadence.
Our mains — seared steak with broccolini and a red wine reduction, and duck confit with potato layers and rhubarb — were beautifully executed and full of flavor. The wine list was well-curated, and the staff offered thoughtful pairing suggestions without being pushy.
For dessert, we shared the butterscotch budino, a comforting, silky custard topped with sea salt and vanilla cream — the perfect ending to a remarkable meal.
Roja excels in both ingredients and ambiance. It’s ideal for special occasions or an indulgent night out. A true fine-dining experience with heart.

Spectacular restaurant! When it seems so hard these days to find a decent restaurant, this one really stands out. I had their special, a ribeye with mashed potatoes and broccoli. The Ribeye was cooked a perfect medium-rare with an impeccable crust. Our waiter was also very charming, funny, and professional.

Strong transformation with Roja. First, staff is incredible. Food was incredible and we had the shrimp, lobster roll, rock fish and fall salad. Cocktails and wine menu are superb. Bring a friend, bring a date, great experience.

Didn’t eat at Asa enough to fairly compare, but dinner was nice. Wine selection is a bit narrow (and steep), but the entrees and starters were good. The tortellini was great, but tiny, however the Osso Bucco and Rib Eye portions were large and super tasty.
