This my absolute my FAV coffee shop, the quality of the coffee is great, and the smores iced lattes is the best especially Tuxedo, that’s my go to order. Also the pan au chocolate and bakery items are really tasty. They also have 50% when they bake too much so they are not wasting that bonus points. Lastly, the baristas are incredibly people, nice, and very helpful.

Absolutely not.
-“Sauteed mushrooms” in the roast beef sandwich are in fact canned mushrooms
-Nasty holey meat

If you are European, avoid it. You will be very disappointed.
Not sure who’s expectations this “European Cafe” meets and no clue why people frequent it.
The cafe mocha is actually better at Dunkin.
I’m extremely baffled.

Great classic coffee shop atmosphere. The food I chose was delicious. I want to come back soon for lunch as I saw many tempting options. My chai latte is satisfactory. Place seems clean and quiet and comfortable and staff are friendly.

On Friday, I went to get breakfast from Roggenart because family had gotten tasty sandwiches from there several months ago.
It was my first time in and I liked the ambiance. 3 stars for the ambiance, BTW.
I figure out what I wanted and went to the cashier to place my order. That cashier (young male wearing a black shirt and a cross necklace) was unexpectedly sullen, aka surly, aka rude. He flicked his eyes over me when I said good morning and made no reply.
I ordered and he rang up the order and walked away. Said nothing to me. I stood there just waiting for my card to finish processing until a young woman came around and completed the sale on their end. I was actually worried something had gone wrong with my card and was taking out cash. But, it was just him walking away.
Never came back.
I sat down and watched him use regular dairy to make my coffee. I specifically asked for oatmilk as I’m intolerant to lactose. I verified it was oatmilk and he mumbled his claim that was and walked away.
At this point, I’m feeling most uncomfortable. He then comes with my sandwich, and kind of just pushes it towards me on the table and walk away. (I’m cutting the story short.)
At that point, I asked the helpful young woman if I could speak to the manager. Melanie (I think her name was) came out and I explained and she was most apologetic.
She even offered that I take the meal but nothing could induce me at that point to eat or drink anything there. She cancelled my charges and I left.
The young man at the register needs to do better. He gave your café a most negative identity. I would have loved to have eaten that beautiful breakfast sandwich and order pastries to go. Who knows how many others he has been this disdainful to? He should not be the image of your café.

The best bakery! I’ve been to three of their locations and they all are consistently great. So many pastry and coffee options. I really enjoyed the creamy caramel latte with the turkey and cheddar croissant. They also have a good matcha latte. However, I wish there was more seating.

UPDATE: Still FIVE STARS. During our last visit to Columbia, Roggenart has definitely improved their coffee products, equipment, and barista expertise. Afficionados will appreciate the cortados, macchiatos, and cappuccinos. A FIVE-STAR stop during every visit to see the grandkids in Columbia, MD. The food is great, good beverages, eat inside, outside, or to go. Our favorite dishes are Roggenart’s Signature Sandwich, consisting of bacon, egg, cheese, and avocado on a croissant, and the One of a Kind Roast Beef sandwich, featuring roast beef (of course), cheddar cheese, sautéed onions, mushrooms, red peppers, and homemade aioli sauce on sourdough bread. Excellent baked goods, too! Convenient access from all locations in Columbia.

This place was awesome. I didn’t order any food but I did get a couple of different coffees and they were very good. The staff was very helpful. Smiled and the place looks very clean. Quiet and a great place to sit and talk. Also, have a very nice bookshelf.

Always busy. Always good. Small location for the amount of popularity. I recommend pastries and some kind of sandwich at some point. Service is either not bad or very good depends on the day. But I’ve never had a bad experience. Definitely come here if you can!

Great non-franchise coffee house feel! Friendly staff. The pastries are amazing – the flakier the better; avoid the muffins. The coffee game needs to step-up a bit or at least double the coffee ratio … though if my hands aren’t shaking after my first cup it isn’t strong enough so I might not be a good judge here! Lol.

I’m a big believer in supporting the local small business owner. It takes a lot of guts to start and run a business, so show them some love!

Loved visiting this bakery. The pastries were beautiful and delicious, enjoyed visiting with the staff, and loved the atmosphere. Plenty of parking, and even though I went in the afternoon, they still had plenty to choose from. It must be popular, because it had a steady stream of customers.
