I used to come here with family a couple of decades ago, and I liked it. They recently renovated it, and they made it even better! The new outdoor bar in the back is very nice, has a great atmosphere, and was a lot of fun on a warm summer night. The outdoor seating was packed, but it didn’t feel crowded and talking was still easy.

We had the Sunset Sangria while we waited for dinner, and it was really good! Good fruit taste with zero aftertaste. For dinner, I had the Lobster Tail + Shrimp Oreganata, which was very fresh (it also comes with a side of pasta and sauce). The shrimp had a sauce that added just the right amount of spice to make it a unique dish. We had a great time at Rod’s Tavern! I admit I like the new one even better than the old one.

NOTE: Rod’s doesn’t take reservations—first come, first served. We waited about 15 minutes for tables at 5 p.m. on a weekday for our large party; nighttime and weekend waits will likely be longer, especially in the summer. Come early and expect to wait a bit for a table.

This was our second visit here, and while the restaurant itself is beautiful inside and out, with a great location and excellent service, the food was once again very disappointing.

I ordered the Brick Chicken (marinated airline chicken breast with grilled artichokes, two morsel size pieces of the latter, and baby carrots), and it was awful. The chicken was so dry and overcooked that I should have sent it back. The portion was small—better suited for a kids’ menu—but the real issue was how poorly it was cooked.

My Greek salad wasn’t much better. I dislike when tomatoes and cucumbers are minced into tiny pieces, and the feta cheese was dry and tasted like it came straight from a bulk supplier.

At this point, the only reason I’d return is for their drinks—and maybe the pretzels, which I haven’t tried yet but at least looked good and seemed popular.

Just darn good. We’ve been three times, and it’s been great each time. The food is delicious. The servers are great.

It’s nice to find a place where you not only get what you pay for, but feel welcomed.

Ava was our most recent server. She was excellent.

Where do I begin….my friends and I obsessed with Rods is borderline unhealthy. We went exactly one time at the end of Summer and we bring it up in our group text chat at least once a day whenever someone experiences a minor inconvenience, “Should we get Rods?” Amazing menu, food lives up to the hype, absolutely some of the best service I’ve ever had I wish I could remember our waitresses name who made sure we got the last 7 loaves of rosemary focaccia to no judgement at all of that request. Heavenly dessert and drinks as well. If I lived down the shore all year, I would be at Rods at least once a week. Also notably looks recently renovated? All of the paint, furniture, etc was immaculate like it was built the day before we got there. Also no wait at all for a group of 6 on a Thursday night, very spacious and accommodating. Rods, I love you!

Came here for happy hour. Ordered a menu cocktail, which is $2 off during HH and it had Kettle one listed as the base alcohol on the menu(would be $14 after 2 off). I watched the bartender pour Tito’s as the base. Tito’s cosmos are also listed as $10 during HH so I assumed she was giving me the other HH deal rather than the $2 off deal which I was good with. I looked at the bill and was charged $14, so for the full cocktail price less the $2, for a cocktail that should have had kettle one in it and not Tito’s. Next, I ordered a Pinot noir, house. A specific brand is on the HH menu for $7, which I did not ask for so that’s on me. I was served Imagery, which was the more expensive Pinot noir on the menu ($12 vs the house of $9). Why serve me the most expensive when I asked for house? Truly a rip off and bartenders do not respect happy hour. Will never come back since chefs international ruined it.

We heard that Rods had done some well needed renovations, so we decided to give them a try. Our appetizers were great. The young server did a spectacular job. The four of us each had an awesome dinner. We are looking forward to coming back.

Look in all fairness the whole area is stuck in the land of the frozen food (Cisco) thanks to the archaic liquor license system that effectively blocks fine tuned national franchises from establishing a beach head.

Rod’s was particularly disappointing because they channeled Bar Taco’s ambiance and delivered Taco Bell. Actually that’s not even fair because Taco Bell delivers relative to expectations.

Service was perfectly fine but until I see a sign that says “Under new ownership” we won’t be coming back.

We had an early dinner at Rod’s. The building is very nice after the renovation.
We started with drinks, and I had a New England Clam Chower for an appetizer. Nice twist putty a puff pasty on top. Definitely recommend.
For dinner, I had a Greek salad with salmon. It was nicely done, and the fish was perfect.
My wife ordered a fish dish off the specials menu. It came and was very impressive but so spicy hot it was not pleasant. I like spicy food and was surprised. I don’t recall a note on the menu or the waitress warning it was so hot. Anyway, my wife sent it back, and they placed the fish on a less spicy base. The 2nd try was quite good.
Overall, it was a nice spot for a casual dinner and drinks.

If you’re considering stopping in, just do it! We took a day trip all the way from Pennsylvania just to give this place a try since we know one of their long time bartenders, Steve! He is awesome, definitely look into where he is working within the restaurant. Though the whole staff works together like a well oiled machine. This looks like a great place to return time and time again to see your favorite people. The food and drinks are spectacular and the restaurant is super clean with a great location. Can’t say enough about how awesome this place is and we will be back for sure!

Loved the way the place looked and it’s a great vibe. Drinks were very good, we sat inside because it was a little hot out but the outdoor seating looks incredible too I could probably sit there all day and slam like 20 bud heavy’s. Also everyone who worked there was attractive something in the water I guess. Highly recommend tho
