We walked into the restaurant and stood there for a few minutes as there was no host stand or staff to greet us. After about five minutes of looking lost and confused, a pleasant gentleman came over and welcomed us to the establishment. Apparently it’s self seating but there are no signs that say that. There’s three salad bar style self serving stations. You help yourself there and go to the back to the one gentleman carving the meats and then you WEIGH your plate then go to your seat to eat. The carving area can be congested during prime time because it’s a very little area and one person carving. They do give you a number where they keep track of how much you’ve eaten. What I do not like about this is the food plates are the thick, HEAVY plates which makes me question how accurate my food’s actual weight. I didn’t see the woman zero out the scale or do any math. I felt like I was paying more for the plate than the actual food. The plate’s weight should be deducted so you’re only paying for the food.
The food was mediocre at best. I’ve had better Brazilian food at other steakhouses where it’s AYCE and nothing is weighed. The chicharrones were dry and the skin was not crispy. It could’ve used more flavor. The Parmesan pork loin was delicious and packed a great punch of the Brazilian flavor. However, the pork loin in the salad bar area was overcooked and under seasoned. The baby potatoes in the salad bar was ice cold. Fried plantains were lukewarm. I found myself adding salt to the protein and I never felt that way at other Brazilian restaurants.
Drinks are served by the can/bottle; no alcohol. Desserts are put in a glass display in little cups with tops but they only offered different flavored mousses that are not made onsite as the gentleman said, “The boss just delivered desserts if you’re interested.” We did try the chocolate coconut mousse and it was okay. Not mousse like but more of a thick pudding/custard mix. It also didn’t appear fresh because it was a bit dried on top when we opened the cup.
For two plates of food, one dessert and two sodas, we paid $60. I don’t think it’s worth it due to the lack of seasoning and the fact that we’re weighing heavy plates. The inside decor is very modern and beautiful. The food needs a bit of help and someone should definitely be in the front to greet guests upon arrival. At this point I do not recommend this establishment and I won’t be returning.
I have dined at Churrascaria Rodeio twice, and both experiences were excellent. The service was outstanding, the environment is very pleasant and welcoming, and the staff are extremely attentive and professional. The food is very good, and the barbecue is even better, truly exceptional.
In addition, I also placed a barbecue catering order with them, and I was genuinely impressed by the quality. The food was delicious, well prepared, and the barbecue was outstanding. They exceeded my expectations.
I highly recommend Churrascaria Rodeio both for dining in and for catering services. I will definitely be returning.
